❝do I wanna know
if this feeling flows both ways?❞
~ Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?
Beth had came back from talking to her sister and still had Judith in her arms. She had to deliver the message to Nathan that Maggie wanted to talk to him - she didn't go into specifics as to why, so Beth didn't want to pry into it. She looked around the room where all the kids were in search for the brown-haired boy, and saw that he was sitting Carl.
She walked around the young ones carefully to not disrupt some of their napping along with avoiding accidentally stepping on any of them. The blonde got to the side of the room Nathan was at and soothed Judith as she was getting fussy. "Nathan," she spoke gently, getting his attention. "Maggie wants to talk to you." When he saw his confused look drawn on his face, she added, "She didn't say why."
Nathan sent an apologetic smile to Carl for having to stop their conversation out of nowhere for whatever it was that Maggie had to speak to him about. "I'll be back," he told Carl when he got up from his spot. He stepped around the younger kids that were sleeping and around the others as well like Beth had done, careful not to disrupt any of them.
When they got out to the hallway, Beth gave him the directions to go so that he could get to the hallway that had a door where Maggie was behind. It was the only way to keep everything safe, prevent any possible chance of the virus spreading, so they spoke as they were each on opposite sides of the door.
Nathan got to the hallway Beth directed him to, and looked around for which specific door was the one that Maggie was behind. He cleared his throat and spoke loud enough for her to hear it, "Maggie?"
"Hey, Nathan," he heard her voice coming from a room that was on his left side. He went over to the door and he could hear her sniffling. There was no question in his mind that wondered if she had been crying, he could hear her trying to catch her breath. "How's everything in there?"
Nathan shook his head as he let out a small breath. "I should be the one asking you." He pressed his back against the door and slid down, turning his head so that his ear was only a few centimeters away from the door. "What's wrong?"
He heard her let out a deep breath before she opened up and told him what was making her upset. "Glenn has it. And I'm trying to stay strong and tell myself that he'll be okay because Daryl took out a small group for medicine, but..."
"Maggie, listen to me," he directed. On the other side of the door, Maggie sniffled and wiped the tears that were coming from her eyes. "Everything is going to be alright, okay? Daryl and the others will come back with the medicine for the ill, for Glenn. Glenn's tough, it's gonna take more than a sickness to take him out."
Maggie smiled at that, and lightly laughed. Nathan smiled when he heard her laugh, it was a good sign that she would not be thinking sad thoughts. Instead she'll be focusing on what will happen soon when the medicine is brought to them.
"Thank you," she whispered. She rubbed her eyes and sat down on the floor. Her hands were placed on her lap and interlocked her fingers together. "Nathan?"
"Hm?" he hummed.
"Promise you won't get mad at me when I ask this next question?"
