Is there anything I could have done to change what happened? No, there's nothing I could have done, well, there is one thing. I could have just waited patiently until they took me, but where's the fun in that? Either way, it would have had the same ending, only it would have been quicker. Much, much, quicker. I'm not making sense am I? I'm sorry, let's start from the beginning, shall we?
"Liz? Sweetheart? I'm leaving, okay?" Mom said as she shook me awake.
"Yeah, yeah." i yawned.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay by yourself? If not, you can come with us." her face was full of worry.
"I'll be fine, Mom. Don't worry about me." I gave her a reassuring smile.
her brows furrowed. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm super sure, and if anything happens I'll call you." I knew the routine, but tonight was the exception. I had been getting strange texts from someone. Nothing too creepy, but it was starting to creep me out a little.
She turned to leave, but hesitated. "Come on, mom. I don't want to be the reason you miss your meeting." I stood up, took her hand and dragged her to the door.
"Ok. Ok, Liz, but maybe you shouldn't stay home alone. Could you call Summer and invite her over to stay with you?"
"Okay, I will. Now, go on, before you're late."
"No, I mean call her right now, In front of me."
"Mom!" I whined.
She just gave me this, angry glare that shut me right up.
"Fine..." I sighed.
I took my phone out, and looked through the contacts until i found Summer's name. I pressed the name and pressed the phone against my ear.
Ring....Ring...Ring.."Hello? Liz?" She answered.
"Hey, Summer. Are you busy?"
"No, not at all, what's up?"
"Do you wanna come over?"
"Yeah, hey, do you want me to rent some movies?
"Sure, what type do you want to see?"
"Hmm, let's go with horror. okay?"
"Yeah, It's fine."
"Okay, see you in ten."
"Okay, bye!" I hung up
"See! there, I just called her and she said she'd be here in ten." I crossed my arms.
"Ok, then, see you tomorrow, Liz" She looked like she could breathe easier now that Summer was going to be here.
"Bye, Mom"
"Bye, Liz" she closed the door behind her, and got in one of her Co-Workers' car. I stood by the door until i saw the car go around the corner, then i went back to the living room and threw myself onto the couch.
Buzz-Buzz. My phone has a new message. Oh, no. It better not be that creeper that's been texting me. I spoke too soon...
Creeper: I'll see you later.
Me: Leave me alone! I've had enough of your games, just stop it already.
Man! this guy is really starting to bother me. At first, i thought it was a wrong number situation, but then he said my name. And he said : Elizabeth, be ready.
Be ready?? Be ready for what? This guy is just straight up scaring me.
Creeper: Just be ready, we'll see you very soon.
Me: Be ready for what? And, who is we?
The minutes ticked by, but he never answered. We? Be ready? What does he mean? It must be some guy who got my number and is trying to scare me. well, whatever he's doing, it's startin' to creep me out, good thing Summer will be here in a little bit.
Soon enough, twenty minutes went by, no Summer to be found.
Me: Summer? Are you almost here?
Ding-Dong! the doorbell rang. It must be her, I wonder what movies she got?
Buzz-Buzz.
Summer texted back, she said : Yeah, sorry I might be a little late, there was a huge line at redbox. so, yeahh I'll be there in a few.
Wait, if it's not her, then...who is it? Might be mom, maybe she forgot something..? Ding-Dong the doorbell rang again. I got off the couch and slowly walked to the door. I turned the outside lights on and peeked through the peep hole. There was a strange couple outside. A Brown-haired woman in her early 40's and a black-haired man in his late 40's I hesitated before opening the door, I couldn't turn back, not now. Now that they saw me turn the lights on, It'd mean I'm here. I only opened the door a bit, so they could barely see me. the most they probably saw of me was an eye.
"Hello, I'm Charles Fitzroy, and this is my wife Sarah. You must be Elizabeth Walker?" The man asked, with a cheery smile. Maybe I was becoming a little paranoid, but I wanted to say i wasn't her. That I was a cousin, coming to visit. Either way, It seemed like a safe answer.
"No, I'm her cousin, Jane Walker."I made up the name. His cheery smile soon disappeared and the couple almost simultaneously looked at each other. It's like they were sharing a conversation with their eyes.
the woman turn back at me before saying. "Now, now, Lizzy. We know it's you. There's no need to lie. We're here to help you." The woman-Sarah, faked a smile.
"Help me? What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well, It's that simple. See, we came here, to help you." Charles smiled again.
"How will you help me?" I opened the door a little more. This is really strange. what the heck are they talking about?
"Haven't you been getting my messages? I told you we'd be here. You're not even ready, such a shame. Guess we'll take her like this." He smiled a strange smile.
"Take me? What in the world are you talking about?" I yelled frustrated now. I heard Summer's car pulling into the driveway.
"Hurry Sarah! before they see her!' Charles snapped at Sarah.
Sarah gave him a look before taking something out of her bag. I realized too late what it was. Chloroform. I tried slamming the door shut, but Charles put his foot between the door. I tried shutting the door on his foot, but he was stronger than me and barreled through the door.
"Sarah!' he yelled.
'Give me a moment will you!" she yelled back harshly.
'Summer!!" I tried yelling for her, but Sarah put the chloroformed rag over my mouth and nose, while Charles shut the front door, and locked it. I tried to fight back. I really did. I kicked and punched. waiting for her to let go, but she never did. She just pressed the rag harder against my nose.
I started feeling the effect of the drug take over me, as I watched the room spin around me In a blurry tango and my limbs became weaker and weaker. "Sweet dreams..." Charles whispered behind Sarah. His face was no more than a warped Illusion. "Let's go home, Elizabeth.." he smiled.
I'd just like to thank TeenageXHearts, AshRose42, and Donadee for the amazing covers they made for me.
