Hi reader! Just so you know, when I say Europan I am not misspelling European, so keep the spelling error comments away. ;)

I could feel the cool metal of the gun barrel pressed against my temple.

I was afraid, but I wouldn't admit it until that trigger was pulled. I knew what I signed up for. Sarai will understand... someday. She'll know I needed to do this.

"Welcome, citizens of Europa."  President Vancenq of the Europan Democracy strode onstage, tailed by a dozen security officers, medals he didn't earn shining a stark white on his jacket. His nose scrunched up as he looked down on me, as if I were some sort of fungus, while his eyes showed fear. Not for his life. No, I am harmless in these chains. But it's not fear for his country either. It's fear for his ego. "If you don't mind, I am going to tell a story most of you know." The crowd cheered.

"Not long ago, our species lived on Earth, then a bountiful planet. Everything was thriving, and our technology was at its finest. But as human civilization started to develop, the atmosphere warmed. As more and more fossil fuels were put into the air, scientists were at a loss of what to do.

"After many years of pondering, they came to a solution. Find a way to take the excess heat on Earth and put it into space. All they had to do was find a way to do it. And they did. For years, heat was pushed out into the depths of space, but to no avail. Our home planet was beyond repair.

"By the time the Sightseer space probe sent the pictures of Europa back to us, the human population had nearly halved. New diseases came out of nowhere, violence and war resurfacing after years of peace. We were desperate.

"Then, everything changed. The Sightseer photos showed an atmosphere. Breathable air. It was a miracle. A miracle we couldn't explain, but a miracle none the less." He paused while the crowd cheered, but turned back to me. THESE PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WAS SMART TO TRY TO DESTROY WHAT WE HAVE LEFT. All our sacrifices would be in vain. Now, they pay!"

A chorus of they will pay travelled darted the room. Vancenq continued screeching, but I tuned back in when I heard the gun click.

"The criminals will be executed. But that isn't enough punishment, is it?"

What?

"Not only will they get killed, but their children will get sent to Earth for life!"

No.

Earth was a barren wasteland filled with criminals of all shapes and sizes, but only two crimes. Murder and attempted murder.

Sarai and Uriah cannot--

BANG!

Death in the prologue? Who does that?

THIS GIRL!

So, this is a story that I wrote backwards. It was interesting, but I finally worked my way back to the prologue. I'm interested to see how it goes!

Anyway, tell me how you like it! And vote. Do that too.
