Chapter 22

Hanna's POV

Its the second day already and i havent eaten anything! I only wish there was a lake around here so I can fish. I dont wanna die from hunger. Well... Other people died from something else. Something unfair. Like Emily...

I got nothing from the Cornucopia. It seemed too dangerous to get there. I was right of course. 12 tibutes died there. Its time i leave this place i dont want to stay in one place for a long time because... Oh my God! A tribute. I get up and start running. I dont think he saw me. Oh God i was scared as Hell!
Correction. I AM scared as Hell! I think i will keep running for a while just to be secure.

I look behind me for a while to see if anyone is following me. It doesnt seem like it, but still... Ouch!

Something or maybe someone hit me in the shoulder. No, he didn't hit me, we fell on each other. I fell down and so did he. I raise my head to see him, only to see that he is already looking at me. Oh no! He cant be...

It was a beautiful Sunday morning in 4. My friends were training, but I went to help my mum that day. My mum works on the transportation train. She gets the equipment that is being send to us and stores it into the storage, depending on what it is. For example if it's food, it is stored it in the food department. It's my favourite section actually, even if I am not allowed to eat this sample of what they dare to call food.

That day while we were ready to head home, my mum told me that she forgot one last bag in the train, so I went to get it and store it for her tgat she can so home and I will meet her there for lunch. The trains are huge, grey and with a district 5 stamp on them, since 5 is responsible for transportation. I went there on time because I heard someone giving the signal to leave. I started yelling to stop and it worked. I went to grab the bag and at the same time another hand grabbed it. It was a boy, around my age, stong with brown eyes and kinda long hair. We looked at each other and he spoke first
"What are you doing here?"
H: "Sorry, I was just... Um... I..."
"Did you forgot how to speak?"
H :"Sorry, whats your name?"
"First of all, stop saying sorry and its Caleb"
H:"Oh, okay, sorry, I mean... Sorry... Well... You know what I mean. Anyway, I forgot this bag here and I wanted to take it. Now if you excuse me-"
C:"So thats what all the fuzz is about. Let me help you then."

"So... I told you mine name, but you didnt tell me yours" Caleb says while we store the bag.
H: My name is Hanna.
C: Nice to meet you then. He says and we both laugh.

"So I guess I'll see you next time" Caleb says, as we head back to the train.
"I hope so" I say and say goodbye to him.

After that day I started thinking about him and ALWAYS helping my mum with work. The next time I sae him, was obviously next Sunday. I was really happy to see him and we started chatting about our lives in different districts and thats how i learned a lot of things about 5. I fell in love with him eventually (okay fine... The 2nd time I saw him actually) and I know that he felt that way too. After some time, he kissed me in a tree and it was the best time of my life.
"I love you" he said.
I was looking at him like i was seeing an alien and i finally told him
"I love you too"

Of course my mum found about this, but she didnt mind, because she knew Caleb and how great he was. We just had to keep our relationship on the down low. And that was excactly what we did. After a few months though he stopped coming. I was asking about him, but the only thing they told me, was that he was sick. He couldnt be sick forever though, because he never came back... One day I received a letter from 5. I opened it quick and my hands were shaking.

Dear Hanna,
Its really dangerous to write that letter to you, but I couldnt help it. Im sorry I stopped coming like that. Trust me there was more behind it than what you think. I just cant tell you now... or ever. Please forgive me.

Caleb

Well, that wasn't the letter I expected. I did trust you Caleb. But I dont now.
I dont know if i can forgive him. I never learned the reason. Of course that letter immediately meant the end of our relationship and there was nothing i could do about it. So I had to forget him once and for all. And I did.
