Previously: Ginny was called to the principal's office, and he told her that her dad was in the hospital. She and her friends rush over, and Ginny finds out here mother who she hasn't seen for 6 years since she left them, is there.
~
I stared at the women in front of me. She hadn't changed much; the same dark brown hair (though some white hairs were starting to sprout), grey-blue eyes, and small thin lips. The only difference was that there were huge bags under her eyes now and some wrinkles. "M-mom?" I stuttered, shocked. What was she doing here?! I haven't seen her in 6 years!
She stared at me in surprise "Virginia.... is that you? My, I didn't recognize you! You've grown!"
Wow great, you haven't seen me in years, and you start off with a little small talk.
Really?
"It's Ginny. And why yes mother I have grown, seeing as I'm 16 right now and you left us when I was 10."
Hurt flashed in her eyes, and I smirked, knowing I had hit a weak spot.
"I'm so sorry Virg- Ginny, I really am." Mom said, reaching for my hand, but I pulled away quickly.
"I'm really not in the mood for this alright? So just leave me alone while I go find dad." I muttered.
Then glancing around, I seemed to realized that Niall and Zayn were still standing beside me, there faces displaying shock. "Let's go guys," I said, pulling their arms towards dads room.
••••
Turns out that Zayn and Niall had to stay outside the room because it was visiting hours for family members only. Apologizing profusely, I told them that they could leave if they wanted. Refusing, they sat down in the waiting chairs and said that when Louis arrived they would all wait for me.
Walking into the room, I was greeted with the smell of a strange array of chemicals. Sniffing, I could only detect the scent of medical alcohol. Or at least I think it was - I sure hope there aren't any random drunks running around this hospital.
The walls in the room were a pale grey colour, and as was a cupboard in the corner of the room. In the center, there lay my very pale father in a plush-looking brown bed connected to a few tubes.
I quickly rushed over to him and sat down in the chair beside his bed, "dad? are you okay, you look horrible!" He chuckled, "coming from you, Ginny." I grinned through my worry - smart ass.
"But in truth; honey, the doctors discovered that I'm diagnosed with cancer."
My heart constricted, this couldn't be happening, this wasn't real, it was a dream. Snap out of it Ginny, wake up.
Cue the waterworks.
I burst out crying, and laid my head down on his bed, "please say they discovered it before it got too severe dad, please say that."
I felt a slightly shaky hand ruffle my auburn hair "don't worry kiddo, its not too severe." I lifted my head up to meet the gaze of my dad. Looking into his grey eyes I could see sadness in them. "Dad," I whispered, "I don't want anything to happen to you."
He smiled, "nothing will, kid."
Then what he said next made me freeze.
"But, you're going to have to live with your mother for a while."
I bolted upright and out of the chair as if I were a string puppet and someone had pulled me up. "What??! With mom? Why? I'm perfectly fine here!"
Speaking of the devil, the door opened and mom walked in. She walked over to me and dad. "I'm assuming you told her George?" She said to dad. I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "I'm right here, you could just ask me."
Dad shot me a slight glare before replying, "yeah, I told Gin. When are you leaving so she can get packed?"
"Tomorrow morning."
I gasped. "Tomorrow?? Where do you even live?" Don't judge me people, I honestly didn't bother to ask dad where she had moved to.
"Holmes Chapel." Mom replied, glancing at me.
"Holmes Chapel?? This is Bradford! Holmes Chapel is like two hours away!" I yelled, my face turning red. Turning to dad, I let my anger out, "dad, are you actually doing this? You're making me move in with this women who left us 6 years ago? While you're sick? Are you mad? Why can't I stay here? I'm 16, I have Zayn, Louis, Niall, Julianna, and all our neighbours! Why don't you trust me to live by myself?"
Dad stared at me until I finished my rant, "honey, this is for the best. You're still going to the same school, don't worry, you can see your friends. But you're just going to go live with mom until I get better."
I sighed - if my rant didn't change dad's mind, nothing would. "You promise to call me every day?" I said, leaning down and giving dad a hug. No doubt I was going to visit him all the time as well. He wrapped his arms around me and I inhaled his scent of vanilla and shaving cream.
"I promise."
