It was a late night out in the forest. My friends and I had just finished our game of tag when we started walking back to our houses. As we arrived, we sat down at the dining room table in my house. "Ever heard about what really happened to Alexis?" Andrew asked in his narrating voice. "Yeah. She was hit by a bus and killed." Jenna popped a picture piece of him in her mouth and pulled out her phone. "That's actually not true." Andrew mumbled in annoyance. "Anyways," his voice changed back to his narrating voice. "Alexis was on her way home from late might Curling when she was hit by a bus but!" He went silent. "But what?" I asked. "Nah. You guys don't wanna know." He leaned back. The usual Andrew. Make something seem so interesting and then call a quits. "Uh!" The other 4 of us groaned. "Really Andy?" Jessica scoffed. "Alright alright." He leaned back onto the table. "Apparently, it would have been too late for busses to be running. So it wasn't a bus. And if it was, it's impossible for her to die from it. Cause there was no bus." He smirked as we all gasped. "What?" Jenna dropped her phone. "Then what was it?" Andrew looked at her. "A van. The same van that she said was parked in her driveway every time her dad had friends over." We gasped again and Andrew smiled and nodded. "I know this because the video tapes by the stop light near by caught it. I hacked into the city cameras to figure out what really happened." We all listened carefully and he leaned back. "That's it." He laughed. We groaned a d then we heard a knock at my front door. "I thought you said your parents don't get home till late tomorrow?" Troy pointed out. "Th-They don't..." I stuttered. "Then who would be at your house at 1:00 in the morning?" Jessica added. "I don't know..." I whined before standing up. I looked out the side window to see a white van parked out front. I closed the curtains and shut off the lights. We all hid under the window like at school. A light skinned in through the window and onto the dark floor. A gentle knock on the window echoed through the quiet, motionless house. The light soon disappeared. The five of us remained quiet until we heard a van start up, pull out and drive down the street. "Holy shit." Andrew blurted out. "You can say that again." Jessica panicked. "HOLY SHIT!" Andrew grabbed his head and paced around. "That was horrifying! What if we got caught!" He leaned against the wall and I clicked on the light. I looked outside quickly to make sure nothing was there. But to my eyes, I saw a small box with a letter on top. I took it inside and put it under my bed. It smelt horrible but I still wanted to know what it was. For the rest of the night, my friends stayed the night with me. We stayed in the main floor, away from any window and we shortly fell asleep.
The next day we all woke up. Everyone left and I was once again alone. I walked into my room and slid the box out from under my bed.
"Dear Josh,
I wanted to say sorry for the loss of your friend and we wanted to give you a gift!
From us!"I shrugged and opened the box. My eyes shot open and I gasped and covered my mouth as I examined the 'gift'.
