Link's POV
It all happened so fast. Too fast, in fact.
I was just getting ready for bed, when I heard screams outside. The whole village was burning, homes destroyed, trees demolished. All I could grab from my beloved home was my 'emergency pouch,' a stone passed down in my family, and a sword. After that, I sprinted outside.
There were huge amounts of people lying on the ground, dead. Only my best friend Sheik remained and the village's flirt, Ilia. (A/N: Sheik and Zelda are 2 different people in this)
"We have to go" I say.
"Yeah, let's go." Sheik replies. And remember, we're not teens. We're just normal 10 and 12 year olds. Running Away. All in a matter of about 3 minutes.
We got a long way from the village, and didn't know where we were. I noticed Ilia shivering in the cold, so I passed her my coat. She smiled and thanked me. 12 year old Sheik started a fire in silence. I laid down a couple of blankets from my pouch and yawned, sitting down on one. I warmed my hands by the fire and decided to start up a conversation.
"Did you guys manage to take anything from home?"
The responses were no and not really. We barely had anything besides each other. Soon, I fell asleep.
The next day came slowly. My sleep was filled with nightmares about monsters and what could've caused the burning of the village. Yet, it remained a mystery. We eventually got deeper into the woods. I climbed a tree to see what was beyond these woods. Beyond them were a huge field, and in the distance, a castle. We were in Hyrule. I climbed down to tell Sheik and Ilia the news. We were all happy.
We finally crossed the field, and made out way to the castle. Because of our age, the Royal Family let us stay in the castle! I was grateful, and happy. My life moved forward from then.
