Your POV

5:30. It's 5:30 and someone's calling me?! Who thinks they can call me and wake me up at 5:30?!

You got up off the sofa, and headed outside, forgetting to close the door. Looking at your phone annoyed, you answered the call and put the phone up to your ear.

"Hello?" You said, with your voice a little raspy, given you just woke up.

"Hi miss (y/n) (l/n). I would like to inform you your mom was in a car accident a few hours ago, and she might not make it."

Your eyes widened at the news. You didn't know whether to be sad or mad, so you just ended the call and started crying. You sunk down against the wall, put your head in between your knees and became a sobbing mess. Tear after tear, your cries became louder, and then someone stepped outside.

Mark POV

I kept my eyes ahead of me and I ran until I stopped a few feet away from the door. I heard crying, and waited to see if it would stop. But the cries only became louder by the second, so I stepped outside to be greeted with (y/n) on the floor, crying into her knees.

What happened?

I was quickly next to her, helping her up to her feet.

The next thing I knew, her arms were wrapped around my body, hugging me tightly. I hugged her back as she cried into my shoulder for a long time. She then started slowing down her sobs and whispered into my ear.

"My m-mom is p-probably d-dead right now,"she said in between tears.

I just hugged her tighter. This situation reminded me of my dad, and how he left. I couldn't imagine what (y/n) was going through right now.

"It's going to get better, I promise," I said, trying to reassure her.

"Well.....know that my mom died I have no one else," she said this time without any tears.

She looked up at me, still hugging, and I stared down into her beautiful eyes.

"You have me, (y/n)," I said smiling. And to no surprise she blushed.

"Thank you, you are such a good friend," she said and I was shocked.

After all this, we were friends. Just friends?

I finally let go, and she had stopped crying. I grabbed her hand and dragged her inside.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I hope you don't mind me asking," I started, "but what exactly happened?"I said hesitantly, me and (y/n) sitting on the couch.
"I don't exactly know myself, but it started with me getting a phone call. I then answered the unknown number, and I was greeted with a lady telling me my mom was in a car accident, and she that she probably won't make it." She started crying again, so I gave her another hug.
There was a long pause of silence until (y/n) talked again.
"Mark, can I ask you to do a favor?"
I pulled away from our hug and stared at her with a serious face.
I nodded.
"Can you promise me to never leave me?"
"Never."
