Clara's Point Of View
"POINT YOUR TOES, CLARA!"
"DON'T FALL OUT OF THAT TURN CLARA!"
"AT LEAST HIT A SPLIT IN YOUR LEAP CLARA!"
Mrs. Abby should have just said "Clara, you're not as good as Chloe, and you never will be." I know that what she meant anyway. Chloe just went off to Joffrey for college; she got a full scholarship because of all the scouts seeing her at competitions. Mom was ecstatic; she got the call from the headmaster right after my solo at nationals. She made sure to tell everyone about how Chloe got into her dream school with a free ride, but she didn't even tell me congratulations on my newest national title win. Chloe? She brought me out to dinner, bought me some new dance clothes, and made sure to wake me up saying "Wakey, Wakey Mini Miss Intensity of 2019'. I just hope one day I can mom as proud of me as she is of Chloe.
"EARTH TO CLAR BEAR!" Chloe screamed in my ear, waving her hand in front of my face.
"Oh, um sorry..." I blushed looking at the ground. Chloe has caught me blanked out in thought three times in the past week.
"Clara, seriously, what's going on?" she looked at me; anyone could easily see the pure concern in her chocolate brown eyes.
"Chlo, I'm fine," I told her, hoping she wouldn't push it any further. To be honest, I'm afraid to admit to what's really bothering me. I'm afraid that if I tell Chloe, it will make her upset, that's the last thing I want.
Chloe's Point Of View
I sighed, Clara refuses to admit it, but there's been something bothering her since nationals, but what?
"No Clara, you're not fine. Three times this week you have been completely spaced out and your never smiling and laughing like the Clara I know. Come on, let me in, tell me what wrong." I could tell she was hesitant by the look in her eyes. "How about we talk over ice cream?"
"Okay Chlo," she sighed. "Only because you know I love you!" she said, making us both laugh. Clara's eyes sparkled like the bubbly little girl I used to know.
I grabbed the keys to my new Honda I got for my 18th birthday. "Mom, we're leaving!" I called before I ran out to the car gripping onto Clara's hand. Soon, we pulled up to a cute ice cream shop called "Sweet Dreams", that was where we would always go after one of my top 3 wins.
"So," I said to Clara as I licked my Chocolate Marshmallow cone, "what's up?"
Clara's Point Of View
"It's just...." I started, not sure what to start with.
"Hey, just talk, I'll listen. Whatever you need to say, say it, anything that's bothering you. I won't say anything until you want me to, okay?" Chloe asked, making me feel a lot more comfortable.
"Okay, well I guess I do have a lot to say. So, don't get me wrong, I couldn't be more proud of you for getting into Joffrey. It's just, you my sister, you're going to be away for college in less than a month. What am I going to do without you? You taught me everything, you were always there, and you're my idol. Who can I go to for dance tips? Or just to talk without you there? Mom? I don't think so; did you know she didn't even say anything about my nationals win? I know she was busy with you, and talking to the people at Joffrey, but one 'congratulations' would have been nice. And I think in Abby's eyes ill never amount to be anywhere near as amazing as you are. Sometimes in class she might as well say 'Clara, you'll never be as good as Chloe'." I was done nothing more to say, I looked up into Chloe's sad eyes.
"Oh, Clara..."
