Clara’s P.O.V.
I woke up early this morning to the sound of my alarm, dragging my feet downstairs. Smiling slightly when I heard the sizzling of pancakes coming from the kitchen.
“Hey kiddo”, mom called. “Come on, some pancakes are ready”.
“Okay thanks mom”, I replied sitting down at the table, stuffing the pancakes down my throat at rapid speed. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets when I saw the time, 6:30. “Mom, we have to go, I’m going to go get changed really quick!” I called as I ran full speed up the stairs. I quickly pulled on some red booty shorts and a white and red polka dot crop top. Pulling my hair into a ponytail as I grabbed my dance bag and ran out the door.
“So, are you excited?” mom asked as she started driving towards the studio.
“Yeah, I guess, I just hope nobody hates me because I’m going to be the favorite,” I admitted. “A lot of people didn’t like Maddie because of that.”
“Don’t worry, they will love you.” Mom said reassuring me.
I walked into the studio, it was honestly slightly intimidating with all of the cameras watching my every move. It was time for pyramid, or as Chloe called it, the Death Trap. We all walked in and stood in a line with our moms to the side, I wasn’t nervous because I knew exactly where I would be, for this week at least.
“On the bottom, is Annie, you’re new to the team and have to prove yourself.” Abby said, and Annie nodded, obviously aware of why she isn’t higher. “Next we have Hannah, you made a huge mistake at Nationals last year, it could have cost us the win! You need to work on memorization of steps.” Hannah looked at the ground sadly, but nodded in agreement. “Last on the bottom is Serena, you were injured and unable to dance at nationals but you still came to support your team, and got the modeling gig, good job!” Serena smiled proudly, knowing full well she should be on the complete bottom. “On the middle we have Sarah, you placed second at nationals, not much else to say. Moving on we have Mackenzie, first place in the junior divison, national winner.” Everyone clapped for Mackenzie, I ran over to my best friend and attacked her in a hug, knowing my spot was next. “Lastly, on top of the pyrimad to start out the year is Clara!” Everyone clapped and I smiled big.
“Okay, so this week we are traveling to Baltimore, Maryland. We have a solo, going to Clara. You will be performing Chloe’s national winning solo, silence. A duet, with Clara and Mackenzie, called sisters. A trio, with Clara, Annie, and Mackenzie. Annie, I want to see if you can keep up with the best. And our group with everyone, called Buenos Aires, it’s a cute Spanish number.”
