This is our purgatory, where we decide if we go to Heaven(if you believe in it), Hell, no where, or reincarnation. Personally, I believe that purgatory is the waiting place for lost souls. And that this, earth, our lives right now is our own purgatory, and everyone we know is just a figment of our minds. Everyone else is in their own purgatory
