The most commonly used horror icon template, is pale skin, deep sunken black eyes, sharp teeth, and an animalistic movement to their bodies.
Everyone has the fear of spiders, or is disgusted by them in one way or another. Because it's instinct.
Same with the fear of deep waters, and heights. Because it wasn't humanly impossible to swim and fly in our ancestral days. But that begins to make me wonder, what affected our lives so much, where those specific qualities bringing that amount of terror into us. What existed so long ago, to have that big of an impact over us, millennia of years later?
