Insanity

I gasped and took a few steps back.

How was Dawn alive? Was she alive? Am I hallucinating?

So many questions buzzed around inside of my head, bouncing off of my skull and ricocheting out of my mouth.

"Dawn? How are you alive? I killed you! I know that you're dead!"

She continued staring at me. Or rather... Through me.

Wait. Something here is off.

I reach my hand out, going to touch her face.

My hand phases through her, sending an electrical shock through my arm and down my spine. I yelp in surprise and pain and stumble backwards into the towel closet.

She takes a few steps towards me, pity in her eyes.

I show no emotion. She walks up to the door... And vanishes. Not in a poof of smoke, not in a screen of fog, she just... Disappears.

I scramble onto my feet again, my long legs colliding with each other and causing me to stumble out of the closet. I run smack-dab into the wall.

"Owwww..." Well. That hurt. Oh well.

I turned around and ran into another wall.

"What the- Okay, there was not a wall there a few seconds ago. There was never a wall here."

I turn my head again. Another wall. Again. Wall.

"Okay, what the hell is going on here? I'm trapped in a wall-cage-thing. This is weird."

I turn around again. This time, there isn't a wall. Instead, there is a long, dimly lit hallway. I notice that ever so slowly, the lights are turning off. In my direction. I quickly snap around, running away from the darkness. I don't know why, I've never been afraid of the dark.

This just seems like a life or death thing.

I look behind me, still sprinting. The darkness is coming towards me much faster than before. I push myself to run as fast as humanly possible, but the darkness is still faster than me.

It catches up to me in a matter of seconds, submerging me in pitch-black nothingness. I close my eyes, preparing myself for whatever's about to happen.

I wait for what seems like forever. Finally, I open my eyes.

I'm still sitting in the towel closet.

"...What...The...Actual..."

"Hey Raven, you alright over th-"

Terry turns in the direction of my room, locking eyes with me.

...

...

...

"WELL, I'll leave you to whatever you're doing in there."

He starts to walk off.

"But, if you need anything..."

He turns and faces me, winking.

"I'm here for you."

He then proceeded to trip over air and fall flat onto his face. He quickly scrambled up, laughing at himself and running off into the kitchen.

"Well then." I got up slowly, keeping my eyes on the walls. Just in case.

I started to walk into my room, when suddenly I heard something running. From behind me. Why is it always behind me? Why can't I see what's running at me? Ugh. I turned around as fast as I could, locking eyes with a creature twice my size.

Holy crap.

It had no mouth, just one big, diamond shaped eye in the center of its face. It had big wings, and a rats tail. I looked down at its feet. Cat paws. If it had no mouth, how could it eat? I lowered my eyes to the tail again.

Oh.

It was fast to attack, wrapping its caudal appendage around my stomach. It had a very strong tail, to say the least. It squeezed my torso, and I could feel blood seeping out of it. Was this it? Is this how I'm going to die? Right as I felt my organs being crushed and exploding out of my body, it was gone. Just like my sister. Snap. Just like that.
