"Hey Hazel!" My friend Piper startled me.

"Hey Piper." I said waving at her.

"Your trying out for the talent show right?" She jumped, "I mean you have to do it!"

"I guess." I shrugged at her, her bright big blue eyes were looking straight into mine, she looked like a little puppy. "How do you even do that?" I asked her.

"Do what?" She asked me in confusion.

"How do your eyes get so big! It's scary, cute, and confusing." I laughed.

"Magic!" She said with jazz hands.

"Your such a dork!" I smiled at her.

"Oh, I know." She said putting her dirty blonde hair in a ponytail. "Common we have to get to class." She wrapped her arm around my back and started walking with me.

"What day is it?" I asked Piper, referring to lunch.

"Not chicken nugget day." She sighed.

"That answered my question." I said sarcastically.

"Nachos." Brook, another one of my friends, said. We're not as close as I am with Piper, probably because I've only really known brook this year and Piper and I have been friends since we were three.

"Where've you been?" I asked her.

"I had a doctors appointment." She rolled her grey eyes. Her black hair was left down and straight, she had a streak of dark blue in her hair. Her clothes included a purple long sleeve shirt with some shorts. Shoes were plain black and white Converse. "What'd I miss in class?"

"A pop quiz." I said, Piper just glared at me. "Three pop quizzes."

"It's like every time you miss a day we get a butt load of homework and pop quizzes." Piped said, "moral of the story, stop skipping days." Brook and both laughed.

"I can't promise anything." She said as we got our food.

"Oh guess who's trying out for the talent show!" Piper said excitedly.

"Uh, you?" Brook guessed as we sat down.

"Of course not. It's our very own Hazel." She said like a proud parent boasting as if her child has just won gold at the Olympics.

"Talent show? Go for the voice." She laughed.

"Or the X-Factor!" Piper laughed.

"Don't get ahead of yourselves." I sighed, "besides I'm not even that good." I mumbled.

"Yes you are! When are you going to accept that?" Brook patted my back.

"I'm really not. Besides to be famous for your voice you have to be Whitney Huston good, or it's not worth it." I took a bite of my nachos. Cheesy.

"Nobody can be that good, stop harshly judging yourself, and stop being so humble." She paused, "it can get annoying. Like why can't I be that humble?" She laughed.

"Probably because you can't be me." I laughed at her.

"Just like you can't be like Whitney Huston." Piper made a good point. I can't keep trying to be someone I'm not. No mater how hard I try I'm not going to sound anything like her so why try?

"How about this, if you win the talent show," Brook started.

"You try out for either The Voice of The X-Factor!" Piper finished for her.

"Deal, because I'm not gunna win." I said, truly believing I wasn't. The odds aren't exactly in my favor, the students pick the winner. Only two people would pick me, Piper and Brook.
I went to go throw my tray away and returned to hear Piper and Brook talking about a guy, I wasn't really paying attention so I just nodded my head every once and a while.

Ring!

"That's the bell, I'll see you guys after school." I waved bye.

"My place right?" Piper asked us to which we both nodded.

"Okay, bye!" Brook waved as we took our separate ways to our classes.
