Chapter 1
My name is Kyle Hunters.
I am rather thin, kind of nerdy, glasses, dark hair, and gray eyes.
I’m bullied for liking One Direction and for being gay.
I have two friends, Makayla and Natalie. We are all 18 and graduating this year.
I live in California. I live with just my mom because my dad moved away because he didn’t like me being gay.
I run cross country and track. I’m the best distance runner at school, but that doesn’t mean anything at my school. You have to be a cheerleader or a stereotypical jock.
It was Wednesday and it was time to get up and go to the wonderful place called prison, I mean school.
I got ready and walked next door to Makayla’s house. I just walked right in. It was standard custom. We’ve been friends since we were babies because we all just lived next door to each other and our parents were great friends for the same reason. Strangely enough, we were all the same age.
We used to knock, but then we just kinda stopped. It wasn’t worth it. Heck! We didn’t even call anymore. Just kinda invited ourselves over. None of our parents had problems with it. We were all just one big family anyway. Meaning we were also expected to help clean and stuff at all three houses. It was annoying sometimes but it’d been that way for forever so no one cared.
“Hey Ky! Since you’re here so early, make me breakfast! And tell Nat to hurry up!” Makayla shouted from her room.
“Nice to see you too!” I said as I headed to kitchen to start on the waffles.
“Oh please! We stopped greetings forever ago. Get with the program here!” Makayla said jokingly.
“Ok, ok. Hurry up! And you can call Nat. I’m busy making breakfast.”
Not even two seconds later, Natalie walked in and said, “I heard the word food.” She walked over to see what I was making. “Ooh, waffles. Yummy!”
“Yes now eat them. MAKAYLA!!!! The waffles are done!!! Get your lazy butt down here!!” I shouted.
“Coming! Stop screaming!” She shouted coming down the stairs.
“I was shouting. Big difference.” I said with a mouthful of waffles.
“We gotta leave in like five minutes so shut up and eat.” Nat said before we could argue anymore.
She was kinda the peace keeper. Makayla and I argued a lot. This was understandable considering we’re practically siblings. We just had different parents and lived in different houses. Sort of. We were always at one of our houses. We were like the three amigos. They could have been way more popular without me, but they liked it just being the three of us.
We lived pretty close to the school so we always had to walk since none of us had a car yet.
As soon as we walked into the school, I could feel eyes on me. I looked around and found that it was Zeke and his posse, Cameron, Alex and Malike. I turned back around and headed to my locker after saying bye to Mak and Nat. We wouldn’t see each other till third period, advanced English.
