The Descent Into Hell Isn't Easy

Matthew was leant against the wall as Jace, Clary and Simon talked. Alec stormed over and you could see he was getting angry, "What's going on? Why is there a mundane in the institute?" Matthew gazed around boredly, he needed some fun.

Matthew snapped back into reality and heard Jace talking to his sister, "There are runes all over the training floor that would kill your mundie boyfriend." As soon as this was said, Matthew burst into a fit of laughter making Clary and Simon blush and Alec to crack a grin, but that was soon gone before anyone could see it. Little did he know, Isabelle saw it, and she had a smirk of her own.

"He's not my-" Clary stuttered.

"I'm not like..." Simon and Clary spoke simultaneously.

"We're, uh, just friends." Simon spoke, leaving Matthew to smirk because he knew the truth about Simon's feeling, hell anyone could see that he had feeling for Clary, but Cary was oblivious and didn't take notice.

"Best friends." Clary corrected her best friend, sharing a smile with him.

"Yeah, and I'm tough." Simon informed them. Matthew snickered and tried to stop himself from laughing but instead told them, "Please, I threw a book at you once and it barely even touched you and you started crying for two hours." Everyone looked at Matthew amused while Simon glared at him and tried to hide his embarrassment, "I can handle runes. So, uh, bring on the runes," Simon spoke confidently, "What exactly are the runes?" Simon added nervously as if the rune was a disease.

"They give Shadowhunters our demon fighting powers." Isabelle informed them all confidently as all of the attention went to her. Isabelle ran a stele over her arm revealing her rune. "So hot." This blunt comment was made by Simon, obviously.

Isabelle smiled at the statement and Jace let out a fake cough but Simon tried to cover himself up, "The rune." Simon cleared his throat. "Don't worry Clary, I'll watch over the best friend." Isabelle said chuckling as she walked over to Simon. "In fact I was just about to make breakfast." Isabelle added.

"On second thought, the runes might be less lethal," Jace told them all, making fun of Isabelle's cooking. Isabelle sighed, "I'll pretend I didn't hear that." Isabelle said smiling.

"Please excuse my brothers lack of manners, that's Alec and I'm Isabelle." Isabelle introduced herself to the only person in the room who didn't know who she was.

"Lewis, Simon. Simon Lewis. Two first names, am I still talking?" Simon spoke to Isabelle talking fast and stuttering as he shook hands with Isabelle, causing her to smile at how awkward he was being.

"Jace, if anything happens to him..." Clary starts in a threatening tone. "No worries, Simon will be fine. If he doesn't make it out, it'll probably be because of the food." Jace told her, chuckling with a grin on his face.

Jace lead Clary and Matthew out to the training room, whilst Alec was looking at a fading Matthew and thinking to himself 'Who is he? And why do I find him so strangely attractive?'

☣☣☣☣

"This is the least revealing thing you have?" Clary asked looking uncomfortable at the outfit Isabelle gave to her. Isabelle chuckled at walked over to Clary, "What? All the naughty bits are covered." Isabelle stated, "A little too much in my opinion." Isabelle added, looking at the floor.

"If it helps, I think you look hot little sis. You will certainly impress your crush you got going on for blondie back there." Matthew told Clary, standing in the doorway smirking. Clary blushed at his words and tried to change the subject. Keyword, tried.
