*Author's Note:*
Okay so I wanted to skip the six years for training, which is like three years and then another three years in the scouts as you would now be seventeen, I thought it would take too long, in the future I might add chapters if they are requested.
This takes place in the present (850). You're in the 102nd trainee squad, you didn't make many friends apart from one girl names Erika Blanche (Pronounced Blan-ssh, This is my best friends OC, so if you check her Deviant art you can find her "BlossomCherry" A drawing made by BlosChe has been put as the cover photo for this chapter with her permission so you can have a look at her and get a visual image) Erika Blanche, She had finished in third place in the top ten ranks during the end of the trainee squad training whereas you had finished in second place. Her personality relatively cheerful as she tries to be as positive as possible, however she knows where to draw her boundaries, such as after expeditions during the time she and her comrades would mourn the deaths of the people who could not make it back. She shares a common hatred for Titans due to her history.
Your brother has joined the scouting legions a year before you did, as he is a year older, which means it he is apart of the 101st trainee squad. He is still alive and always hangs around you during lunch time and in between training breaks.
Okay so enjoy ~

'Only we dare to bear these wings on our backs,
We've all carved an oath into our hearts, beating in unity,
As our voices from the battle cry of the free,
We were born from the skies, with these wings of freedom'
These words itched their way into my mind, glued there as a brief reminder of what I am fighting for. My mother made the Survey Corps sound like a honorable dreamland but in all honesty, it was painfully cruel.
It was the day before the expedition, to be exact, my first expedition. I was terrified, nervous and above all, scared for my brother.
How many people we're going to die tomorrow?
They we're all just sitting, eating their meals as if nothing was going to happen, smiling, laughing and some even crying with each other. I looked away from it all, it made me feel sick, imaging how many people wouldn't be here tomorrow gave me a headache.
"Alfie, I think I'm going to head to bed, Erika, you can have the rest of my food if you please."
And with that I take a swift turn and began walking towards the wooden double doors that lead to the bedrooms and offices.
"Alright, goodnight (F/N), I'll see you tomorrow bright and early."
Alfie gave me a reassuring smile as I opened the doors to the painfully dark corridor in front of me.
"NIGHT (F/N)! SLEEP WELL!"
I giggled to myself as the wooden doors closed behind me, hearing Erika scream after me. I could hear my own footsteps echoed through the corridor as I stared into the darkness, blank expression and deep in thought. Failing to notice the figure in front of me, I felt a restriction on my left foot as you toppled forward crashing towards the ground. Flinging my arms in front of my face, I awaited the pain that is coming for me as I inched closer to the ground. A thud was heard throughout the corridor, as I rolled over onto my back to look at what had caused me to fall over.
