~Jester's POV~

She smiled to herself when the cross touched her hand. I wonder it was that interesting. All it is was a cross with a weird carving on the side. A knock went on the door. Her mom came in with a tray of bowls of fruit salad. The moment her eyes laid on the cross Evie had in her hand, her expressing went from a smile to a grin.

"Hey, I want to hear about you guys. How were you able to be friends with Evie so quickly?"

"That's mean." Evie said with narrow eyes.

"Anyways," her mother said, changing the subject. "Can I watch you guys? I want to make sure she isn't paying you to be her friend."

Evie glared at her, annoyed. "I'm going to the bathroom." she growled, getting up. She whispered something in her mother's ear just before leaving. Once she closed the door, the mother went pale.

"Um...ma'am?" Madison spoke up.

She shook her head and smiled at us. "Please don't be so formal. Call me Momo. Now, will you tell me of your first impression of her."

~Evie's POV~

I went in the bathroom and stared down at the cross. This was definitely it. I hovered my hand over the cross and conjured a replica. I smiled and place the real one in my pocket. I glanced at the fake cross.

Oh Jester. You're the best. What's mine is finally back, thanks to you. I exited the bathroom and went inside my room. Inside, Momo was laughing with Madison and Jester. "What are you guys laughing about?" I asked, walking in.

"Oh your mother was telling us all about your fails with making friends." Madison laughed.

"Did she?" I questioned. I sent her a hard look. She got up immediately. "I must let you kids study."

"Thank you ma'am."

"Yeah yeah." She said quickly, closing the door shut.

"What was that about?" Jester asked, giving me a weird look.

I smiled at him. "Nothing. My mother and I have a funny relationship."

I took his hand and and placed the cross on it.

"Here. Turns out the design isn't the one I was looking for."

He gave a small smile and retrieved his hand. "It's fine."

"Why don't we finish this up and call it a day?" I suggested.

Madison nodded her head and we all went on with homework.

Once we finished, Madison and Jester left, leaving Momo and I in the living room. I sighed. "I think we're done here. Let's get packing." I said, walking to the stairs. Momo pulled me back.

"That's too risky, Evie."

I narrowed my eyes. "How so?"

She sighed. "For one, we've already got through the trouble of getting your cross back from that kid. Plus, I think they're on to us." she said, cautiously glancing at the window.

She walked over and closed the curtains. "We'll have to stay until they lose their suspictions. If we leave now, they'll be on our tail. You must understand that you're body contains the royal blood. As the heir of the Notre family, we must not allow mere mortals to encounter us."

I frowned. "I never wanted to be the royal heir of the family. Why can't I just give the crown to Gerald? He's the eldest."

She shook her head. "Remember his place. Marrying a mortal is prohibited, and he had broken that law. Thus, removing him from candidate."

"Then I shall marry a mortal as well. Maybe then Sheryl can take the crown." I joked.

She slapped the back of my head. "Don't be a fool." she hissed.

I slapped her back and kicked her aside. "You should now your place." I growled. "One word from me, and your head is not the only thing you'll lose. Remember that my father has your family at hostage. I may be the only one that can stop him. I will keep your words in mind, but I won't tolerate your abuse. Is that clear?"

She bit her lip and clenched her fist. "Yes...your Highness."

I turned my back and left her in the room. In the background, I heard her let out a little scream, followed by a small crash. "I shouldn't have helped her after all." Pathetic. Momo, don't be reckless. You should know I have a short temper when it comes to abuse.

I closed my eyes and shut the door behind me. Momo, I'm sorry, but don't take it at heart. I opened my eyes and walked to the window, shutting the blinds and curtains. I reached into my pocket and felt it warming up on my hands. It glowed and dimmed.

I closed my eyes let out my real self. My hair grew darker and darker. I took slow breaths and absorbed all the energy the cross carried when it was gone. I opened my eyes once again with my fangs gleaming, reflecting off the light. It feels so good to have my powers running through my veins.

~Madison's POV~

I looked back at Evie's house as Jester and I walked down to our neighborhood. She's probably nicer than I thought, but something caught my eye. At the window, I could've sworn I saw her mother watching us as we walked away.

Her eyes filled with hatred and anger. I flipped my head back and shook the image out of my head. It was just your imagination, Madison. Just your imagination.

Jester noticed me and leaned close until our foreheads touched. My heart beat increased by x1000. Heat rushed my cheeks. He moved back and placed a hand on my face. "Do you have a fever?"

I quickly shook my head and stared at the ground. I heard him sigh. "Madison, if this is about love......I still not ready for such thing. I don't know what these feelings are. I will give you a straight answer when I do realize them."

I nodded with a smile. This was one of the reasons why I like him. He's considerate and kind. He knows the difference between good and bad, he knows almost everything about me, and...he knows what's right.

"It's fine. I'll wait."

Slowly, my mind traced back to Ms. Senna's twisted face. I wonder why she has such expressions.

The next day at school, Jester and I came to class and saw Evie, but she wasn't focusing. Her eyes were clouded and distant. She was mumbling something non-stop.

Jester was about to poke her, but she caught his finger and flicked it away. "What do you want?" she snapped. Someone's in a bad mood.

"Whoa. You okay?" Jester chuckled.

She sighed and looked up. "Sorry. I'm just...tired."

"Did you get in a fight with your mom?" I blurted out. I gasped and covered my mouth. She looked down and roller her eyes. "It's none of your concerns." she said bluntly. I watched as she tapped the table impatiently with her nails. Seeing her like this makes me irritated too.

Then, Jordan, the class clown, ran in the room and gasped when he saw the clean whiteboard. "Who erased my dead monster!" he gasped dramatically.

Everybody laughed, except for Evie. She was getting pissed. I have the strangest feeling that she did it. "I'm ganna draw another one! And don't think about erasing it!" he shouted with a funny twitching eye.

We laughed even more as he drew one of his master piece; a demon with a steak through it's chest, crying with blood. When he was done, Evie shot up. Everyone's attention were focused on her.

She sighed and went to the teacher and whispered something. Mrs. Doreen nodded and allowed her to leave. Jester and I noticed she was growing pale...er. We went right after her.

"Evie, are you okay?" Jester called out. She didn't answer. She just kept walking, or wobbling. That's when she came to a halt, and fainted.
