"Uggnn..." Riley opened her eyes slightly; waking up to the sound of a ball-point pen scribbling on a sheet of paper. "N... Nathan...?" She asked, her voice weak as her eyes were still focusing on her surroundings. As her eyesight finally became clearer, she saw a man sitting on a desk chair in front of a desk about 10 feet away from her in the corner of the room. The second Riley noticed the white hair, she knew who it was. Riley's chest became tight; she suddenly had trouble breathing. She let out a harsh cough and gawked as blood splattered out of her mouth and dribbled down her lip. She felt sick.
Jay turned around in the chair and looked down at Riley, smirking. "Oh, you're awake."
Riley tried to move but she couldn't. Her hands were tied behind a pole; one of those beams that would support a ceiling. "Where...?"
Jay walked closer to Riley and bent down in front of her, his arm resting on his thigh. All those videos and photos online over the years, Jay still looked exactly like he did in all of them. He was wearing black jeans and a yellow reflective vest. His right eye was bright blue yet his missing and closed eye hid behind the rest of his silver bangs.
"You found it." He spoke, smiling at her. His voice was dark; husky. Like a smokers, yet there was still something smooth and alluring about it. Everyone always felt like it was hard to describe, his south Londoner accent was strong in his voice too.
"Huh?!" Riley's eyes widened as he smiled at her.
He stood up and placed his glove on his hand. "My glove." He spoke. "You actually found it."
Riley went to open her mouth to say something but nothing came out. She was speechless. The only thing she could breathe was; "was that... a tattoo?"
"Heh..." Jay looked down to Riley and then to his inner wrist that was usually covered by his glove. He pulled his glove back a bit to reveal a star tattoo. There was wording on the inside but Riley couldn't make out what it said. "That's all you have to say?" He chuckled slightly.
Riley's head was throbbing, she wondered what the hell did he hit her with. There was a small pause until she realized, "...Nathan?!" She shouted, darting her eyes around the room. But no sight of him. "Where's Nathan!?"
"If you keep shoutin', you're gunna really hurt your head." Jay replied in a calm tone.
She felt a lump in her throat as tears began to prick her eyes. She closed her eyes quickly and shook them away. Riley glanced up at the man in front of her. "James..." She paused, frowning, "Freeman..."
"A reporter that refers to me as my real name? You're a first, Riley Clark." Jay smirked as he played with a pen in his fingers.
Her eyes widened once more, "how... how do you know my name...!?" Her eyes scanned his face for a moment, then suddenly. She realized and her mouth hung open. "...!"
"Oh, that's right." Jay knelt down in front of her, a smirk still painted across his face. "I went through your bag. I was curious. Had a little journal, huh? Well, I hate to be nosey and invade your privacy but..." He shrugged a little, "maybe thought you'd have cool theories on me. Your love confession surprised me though, Miss Clark. To kiss Jay Free-"
"I have no idea what you're talking about!" She splattered. She had no idea what to say. What could she do? She couldn't move, she only had her words and they were definitely slipping.
"You're not so different, you know." His smirk then dropped instantly. "All the ones with the random pretty faces always come to me, trying to find an easy fuck from none other than Mockingjay himself." Jay grinned as he let out a slight chuckle. "Heh... And come on, now. You are a reporter. I have some standards." He spoke darkly. "I've heard it a thousand times. 'You're different', 'Oh, but I love you', 'FUCK ME, JAY'." He smirked and violently grabbed her chin. "I wonder what you're gunna say."
