You had a feeling that it had something to do with Ms. King. The rest of River's teachers swiftly told her they didn't know what happened with River. He never talked about it with any of them, and it was the truth. Ms. King, however, was the only suspect that had told any indication of a lie.
Help me must be him telling you that he wanted to get away from someone. That was the only reasonable explanation there was. Someone was hurting him.
His parents? Were they the ones hurting him? Was Ms. King keeping a secret only River wanted her to know? All those questions started to make your head hurt.
River was something else.
Something special.
