I ran.

He loves me.

He loves me.

He loves me.

Why.

I want to know.

Once that void is filled . . .

Once I know-

I push through the barrier

That keeps me, the whore,

From Aron,

The Man That Loves Me.

She's there, standing, huffing.

He sits and stares,

The fire quietly behind him.

'Why?' she asks.

Aron pauses -

Then smiles.

'Because.

Because you make my day with your smile.

Your laugh invades my heart

And your kiss fills my head until I can't see straight.

I can't fall asleep unless your hair is in my face. So when you're not around, I stay awake.

The sparkle in your eye is my happiness

And your little hands, my joy.

The wideness of your nose and the crinkle in your lips makes me beam with pride.

And your tears kill my soul.

Because you're beautiful.

Because I need you to breathe right.

Because I love you.'

Why.

Why all of that?

'After I've hurt you, Aron!'

I cry out.

'After the nights that you stayed awake, knowing exactly where I was,

Just not knowing who,

You still feel all that?

WHY?

I can't accept it.

It's a lie.

You don't mean it.

You . . . don't . . .'

I stagger forward and trip.

Aron catches her

And cradles her pretty little head against his chest.

Her frizzy hair tickling his face,

Her hands grasping his shirt in her fingers.

He folds her in his lap before the fire,

The warmth caressing their faces.

She kisses his neck

Again

And again.

He strokes her hair,

Runs his thumb over her soft cheek.

I kiss his skin,

Wishing it all away,

Trying to kiss the pain,

The lies,

The hurt,

Into oblivion.

I know how -

But can I do it with a clean heart?

I take his face into my hands.

His eyes so full of love that I need to struggle to truly deserve;

It makes me want to run away again.

But I know I won't.

I'm here in his arms right now.

I don't run.

'I love you'.

Why did he say that?

Now he knows why.

'I love you.'

He thought she had run away;

But in truth

She had run right to his open heart.

He brushes his lips on her sweet mouth,

Which the words that he wanted to hear flowed deliciously through,

And lays her back on the ground -

Ready and wanting to end her search for true happiness.

I close my eyes.

I found it.

The void is filled.

The bliss that engulfs my head is intoxicating,

And I can't believe

That after so many guys,

After so many souls -

I found it here,

In Aron's arms,

Through his warm breath,

With his enveloping eyes,

His understanding touch,

With words that beg to protect me.

After so long,

I've found him.

'I love you so much . . .'

'I love you more.'
