**WARNING: TAKES PLACE IN ZEREF'S WAR, MAJOR SPOILER ALERT**
------------------------------------
Lucy's ash-caked eyelashes fluttered open, and she groaned, squinting her eyes from an uknown bright light. Smoke floated through her nostrils, and she coughed, sniffling. Lucy shifted her head, and took in her surroundings.
She gasped at what she saw, her hand flying to her mouth. Natsu.....his hospital bed, which she had been sleeping on, was now empty. The bed itself- it's covers were singed, the mattress had a hole burned through it, and the pillow blackened by ash. She tried to stand up, and screamed in pain. Her leg pulsated with pain, and her veins felt like they were throbbing with adrenaline.
Lucy tried to pull her leg out from under the cement block, but failed. She flopped her down on the edge of the bed momentarily, then glanced up. Around her, the hospital walls were collapsed, and broken. There was a small fire in the corner, smoke drifting through a large hole in the wooden ceiling. The room was filled with broken beds, plaster, blocks of cement, broken curtain rods and shattered glass. The room look like a bomb had gone off, and wind lifted up whisps of Lucy's messy ponytail.
A gust of wind extinguished one of the smaller fires, and she furrowed her eyebrows, staring at it, as if it could explain itself. Then suddenly, it did.
Silent gasps left her lips as a burnt, long piece of material eerily floated out of the fire. It was singed along the edges, and the tassels were mostly burnt to stubs. It twisted and dance towards her on the smoky breeze. She weakly reached her arm out, and grabbed the end tightly, pulling it to her lap. Lucy stroked it with her thumb, the silence filling the room, except for the crackling of a warm hearth. Her eyes grew hard, as she held back tears, staring down at her clenched palms. Lucy carefully picked up Natsu's singed scarf, and wrapped it around her neck.
Lucy stood up shakily, grabbing the bed for support. She ripped off the bottom of her dusty, long white skirt and tied it around her waist, clipping her Celestial Spirit keys to it, and straightneed the blue toggle top, or what was left of it- her chest and up. Lucy readjusted the scarf carefully, determination fierce in her eyes, walking out, kicking up dust casually. She felt for her keys, just in case...but they were gone. Mentally screaming in frustration, she sighed.
"I'll find you, Natsu. I always will."
Lucy hardened her face, putting her hair in a classic- a half up do. She looked around. She was in the middle of a ruined town, with flames rising and a red sky.
"So much fire," she muttered to herself, "I wonder...could he have..."
"No," she said firmly. "Natsu isn't like that."
Suddenly, the ground rumbled, and a huge fire lit, illuminating the sky; Lucy ducked behind a fallen tree, and heaved a sigh. Her heart pounded, and the fire formed around her like a shell. "LUCY," A deep male voice whispered. It came from every direction, and seemed echoing.
She looked around, and heard it again. "LUCY!" Lucy looked around again, and gasped. The flames before her molded together, and formed a strange shape. It wasn't quite human, more....reptile. The creature spread its huge wings and roared, blowing on her hair and face.
"Uh, sir? D-do I know you?" She asked, carefully choosing her words.
He roared again, shaking his scaly head. "You may have heard of me. I am the ghost of the father of Natsu; Igneel."
Lucy didn't know what to say. Her mouth hung down like a dead thing, and she stuttered.
"Igneel...You're-Natsu....Father..."
