A firm beeping awakes me from my slumber. I groggily open my eyes and look around, realizing the beeping is coming from the machines Dad is hooked to. Frantically I jump up from my spot by his bed and scream for the nurses.
It's like time slows down as three nurses file in the small room, ushering me out as Doctor Evans jogs in. I stare in horror as they yell "No pulse, Doctor!", and glance behind me to see my family rushing by me. "Come on. Come on, Dad." I mutter anxiously. His shirt is ripped open and a nurse attaches a defibrillator. My heart races as they send a shock through his chest. And another. And another. A firm hand is placed on my shoulder and my eyes start to get glossy. I bite my lip and choke back a sob, feeling blood in my mouth. Then, it all stops. The nurses stop moving, and Doctor Evans shakes his head. "No no no no. Th-this isn't happening. I-it's a-a drea-dream..." I ramble and feel a flow of tears roll down my cheeks. One nurse, Jane, walks out of the room, her eyes glassy. "Time of death?" Doctor Evans asks.
A sob works it's way out my raw throat and I scream "NOO", while my brother, Dylan, grabs my shoulders to stop me from hurtling into the room. I fall to the floor and cry in Dylan's arms. I shake and sob, listening to the hurt and sadness from my family and friends.
I sit on the hospital floor with Dylan, hiccuping, and watching as Dad is moved out of the room, with a sheet over his body. More tears form in my eyes and I shakily get up, and run. I run away from Dylan. Away from the hospital. All the way to my car, and collapse. Luckily no paps are here to take pictures, and no fans are here to scream my name and ask for an autograph. Thankfully that means there won't be a headline in the magazines saying "Actor Aveline O'Brien a mess after fathers death", because that would be sooo great. Slumping down in my seat, I lay my head on the steering wheel and cry once again.
I cried while writing this uGh. Kinda a shocking way to start a story but eh. Hopefully no one gets confused..
Also I was kinda winging it so don't judge😬
