Liam

I woke up, expecting another day filled with the typical school, school, gossip and well, school. As usual, it took around thirty minutes and 5 snoozes for me to finally wake up. There were times when I wondered why I even bothered going to school, but I suddenly realize it’s stupid. The end of every day was often great which always made me realize waking up early for school was worth it.

Cam and I sat on our usual place in the school bus on the way to school. She kept telling me about how Shayne gave her a charm bracelet with letters that form “C and S Forever” and I was starting to get so irritated. And might I add, I believe I had great patience. It’s just that aside from her continuous swooning over the dude, she kept screaming and smiling every time she saw the bracelet, which was obviously frequent since she was wearing it.

Finally, Cam remembered that our school paper was due in five weeks. That made her quiet and serious. Well, she should be--she was Editor-in-Chief! I-on the other hand-was the official school photographer. It was one of my very few extracurricular activities. Cam told me to take pictures of the new school lockers, the new building and the new park located at our school’s main building. I actually felt thrilled since it’s been a long time since I held my camera to take shots for our newspaper and I had nothing else to do for the day.

At lunchtime, I headed to the hallways to take pictures of the new lockers. They were five-feet tall and two-feet wide! Of course, the ones who can have that were the ones who bother to pay lots just for more locker space—I was not one of them. One of the few people who had those was Paige, one of Cara’s best friends and my classmate, who was standing right beside her purple glittery locker.

“Nice locker.” I told her, smiling.

“Oh, hey Liam. Thanks!” she smiled back, obviously proud of it.

“May I take a picture of it? If you don’t mind…”

“Well of course you can! Why not?” she opened it and afterwards stepped away from the enormous locker.

I honestly expected the locker to have tons of brushes, pink stuff and other girly stuff I didn’t really want to know about but I was wrong. She opened the locker only to expose a giant speaker, an iPod and other tons of really cool stuff such as concert tickets and band posters. There was still a small pink space allotted for her girly things, though.

“Wow, this is awesome!” I said excitedly.

“I know, right? Take a picture! I don’t mind.” She said, still standing beside me.

“Sure, there’s one thing missing though.” I said.

“What is it?” she asked, looking suddenly confused.

“You! Stand beside your awesome locker. You should be in the picture, too.” I said. Paige was a very shy girl, despite her wealth and her good looks. That was quite unbelievable and cool.

“Buut--“ she started to protest but I pulled her towards her locker, and said, “I insist.”

The picture was taken and it looked great. I’m pretty sure it’d be included in the paper. Paige headed for lunch, leaving me alone standing in front of her locker. I was just checking the other photos I got to take when I suddenly noticed someone standing behind me. Cara.

“Oh, hey.” I casually said.

“Yo. Those are really nice pictures.” Cara mentioned, “I saw what you did with Paige earlier. Thank you.”

“Nah, it’s nothing really. She’s my friend, too. I mean we’re now Juniors she needs to come out of her shell, you know.”

“Yeah you’re right. Oh by the way, did you get to listen to The Script’s new single For The First Time?” she asked.
