Liam
Beep, beep!
"Addison, the bus is here." said my mother, Lani. She was the best mother ever but I can't help but feel like she treats me too much like a child at times. Maybe it's because I was her only child.
"Addison! Your school bus is wating for you. Hurry up!"
"Yes, mom. I'm coming." I yelled at her.
Ugh, she can be just really irritating at times. I was upstairs, inside my room, putting get on my hair. Hey, guys care about their looks too, in case you didn't know that.
Once I thought I had sprayed enough Lacoste Red on myself, I hurriedly came out of my large bedroom and down the stairs.
"What took you so long?" my mother asked, irritated. "You know I don't like rushing during mornings."
"I'm sorry, mom."
Beep, beep!
"Ugh, I gotta run. Love you." I leaned in to peck her on the cheek. Ugh, makeup. I've never understood why women put on makeup. I mean a bit is fine, but this much? I know it doesn't feel very comfortable wearing it so why bother?
And you might be thinking that I'm such a momma's boy right now, but no, I don't really think I was. I was a lot close to my dad, too. Yeah, you can say that I was sort of a family guy.
"Addison! Did you just pour that whole bottle of the new perfume I bought on yourself? You smell too good that it hurts. And, I don't mean that in a good way." exclaimed my mother.
"Whatever, mom. I gotta go."
I entered the school bus and saw my best friend, Cam waving at me.
She always saved a seat for me since we were in grade school. She just lived a few blocks away from my house that's why we see each other often and know each other well.
"Yo." I greeted her.
"Hi." she sighed.
"Why, what's wrong?" I asked her.
We told each other almost everything. And no, I was not in love with her nor do I think of her as anything more than a friend. She was a wonderful girl, but she just wasn't my type.
"You know that Shayne and I have been chatting and texting this summer, right?"
Oh yeah, she liked a guy from our school named Shayne. I didn't know the dude very well since he seemed really quiet and serious. I, on the other hand, was the noisy type. I liked making people laugh.
"Of course I remember. You've told me about him for like a hundred times this summer."
"We're in the same class. Actually, the three of us are in the same class. I'm just so nervous to see him. I'm hoping he likes me too but it would just be plain awkward if ever I see him canoodling with another girl. In fact, I'd be hurt." she stated.
Although Cam and Shayne seemed really different in a lot of ways, I saw them as a good couple. Cam had long, curly brown locks and normal skin. Shayne, on the other hand, had blonde hair and tan skin. Shayne was our batch's valedictorian while Cam's not really into academics, honestly. Cam plays volleyball, soccer and basketball while Shayne only plays chess. Yes, they are indeed SO different. But, I can see it work.
"You know what's the problem with you, Cams?" I asked her.
"What?" she worriedly asked.
"You worry too much. Just see what happens, okay? If he likes you, then that's great. Feel happy. If he doesn't, then it's his lost, not yours. There're a lot of guys out there, you know."
