She's Mine

Chapter One - 18!

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

I groan, I search my bed for where I dropped my phone last night and press OK so it'll stop making that god awful noise.

Once it stops, I sigh and get comfy, snuggling up to Mr.Beary Bear, in an attempt to fall back asleep.

Until a huge weight crashes into me.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAAYY AURORAAAAAA!!!!", my bestfriend Hailey screams into my ear.

I turn over and knock her off my bed, settling back into it, mumbling "five more minutes.."

Hailey whispers "Au...don't you remember what day it is?..aurora..."

I'm too tired to even think about the day, I flick her nose so she'll leave me alone.

"Au...it's your 18th birthday! You know the day you find out who your mate is!!"

I hear every other word...18...Birthday...Mate..

I remember! My eyes spring open as I leap out of bed saying "ITS MY 18TH BIRTHDAY OH MY GOD! TODAY I FIND OUT ME AND ELI ARE DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER! IM SO EXCITED OMFG IM GONNA BE LATE I GOTTA SHOWER AND GET DRESSED AND-"

Hailey clamps her hand over my mouth, "Jeez, Au. Morning breath, much?", she says pinching her nose.

I slap her hand away, too excited to even pay attention to her, I head to the shower smiling.

I shave myself from head to toe, brush my teeth and finish by scrubbing myself with my coconut body wash before turning the shower off and drying myself off.

I make sure to wrap my hair up so it can dry off while I'm doing my makeup.

I start with a tinted moisturizer, not wanting to go too overboard today. I fill in my brows, line my eyes with black eyeliner, adding a flick at the end of each eye and finish with two swipes of mascara on each eye. I go for a nude lip today and smile once I see myself in the mirror.

I go back into my bedroom where I see Hailey sitting on my bed, playing on her phone and pick my outfit. I put on a white lace bralette and loose patterned blue shorts, a matching necklace and my brown strapped sandals.

I take my towel off my head and see that my hair is semi-dry. I put some leave in conditioner and lock it in with gel before
I pick up one of my favourite pair of sunglasses and toss them into my small pink purse before heading to go downstairs.

"You coming?", I shout to Hailey. I hear her scrambling out of my bed as I walk down the stairs.

I get downstairs and hear "HAPPY BIRTHDAY AURORAAAA!!!" coming from my parents and my two brothers, John and Adam.

I smile at them as John comes and hugs me, and Adam hugs us both, squeezing the air out of me in the process.

"Oh my little girl is all grown up", my mom says, looking at me with tears gathering in her eyes.

My dad smiles at me and puts his arms around my mom, hugging her from behind and leans forward and kisses me on top of my head and says "We're proud of you, kiddo."

My mom finishes making her famous cinnamon bun pancakes and we all eat at the table.

I'm eating and talking and laughing with my bestfriend and family when I glance at the clock, 8:48.

SHIT. We're going to be late for school. I stuff my last pancake into my mouth and grab Hailey, screaming "BYE DAD BYE MOM!" and run out the door to her car.

Hailey and I laugh and sing to the radio as she speeds her way to school, trying not to be late to school.

She finds a parking spot in the back which means we're gonna be late even if we run. So we walk and talk and she tells me about the party she's throwing tomorrow night for me because her parents are out of town and my older brothers are buying us booze.

As we walk, other teenagers from our pack wave at me and tell me happy birthday but I'm zoned out. There's only one person I want to see.

But the bell rings and I figure I should at least try not to miss all of first period so I sprint to my class

The whole time I can't help but wonder where the hell Eli could be.
