' "Peter, I know that things have gotten complicated between us but, I just want to say that as much as I've hated being here, I've enjoyed spending time with you. I know it's hard to believe but, it's the truth." "I feel the same way," Peter said. "I'm sorry for all the pain I've caused you," he said. "It's alright, Peter. I forgive you." Sarah started walking away but turned around. "Peter, why are you letting me go?" Sarah asked. Peter looked at her for a minute, not saying anything. "Because I love you. And because I know that if it's meant to be, you'll come back... and we'll see each other again." Sarah smiled and ran over to him. They kissed for a few minutes before saying goodbye to each other. The shadow took Sarah away and Peter watched as his love went away. "I will always love you, Sarah... I promise," he whispered.'

The memory replayed itself over and over in Peter's head. It had been 2 years since Sarah left Neverland. Peter was heartbroken when she left. The girl had changed his life forever and had also changed his heart. Peter remembered when he was a cruel person, when he didn't care about anyone and had only been after one thing. The heart of the truest believer, which belonged to Sarah's brother Henry. Peter wondered what Sarah was doing now. Had she forgotten about him? Had she fallen in love with someone else? Peter hoped that she hadn't forgotten him and that she hadn't fallen in love with someone else. It would only break his heart even more.

Neverland was almost the same as it had been when Sarah first came to Neverland, though some things had changed. Not in scenery, exactly, but rather the feeling of the island. The island used to feel so cold and evil. Now, it felt warm and safe. Sarah had changed not only Peter, but Neverland as well. It surprised Peter how much Sarah had changed about the island. It seemed less depressing. Sure, the Lost Boys all still felt happy, but there was a part of each of them that Peter noticed was different. Other than Felix, the Lost Boys seemed more happy. Of course, that was before Sarah had gone back home to Storybrooke.

Peter could tell that they were all upset over Sarah leaving as well. However, Peter knew that he missed her the most. After all, he was closer to Sarah than any of the Lost Boys. He knew her better and he loved her. There was no denying that he had felt strongly towards Sarah the moment she first came to Neverland. At first, he felt strongly towards her because he was planning on using her, which he did. In the middle of it all, he realized that he felt something else for her... something stronger than his urge to use her to get to Regina. It was love, something he never thought he would be able to feel towards anyone other than himself. Rumple didn't count.

Of course, Peter felt something for his son, it just wasn't love. Sarah wasn't aware that Peter was the father of Rumplestiltskin. Peter was determined to keep her from finding out, though he hated keeping secrets from her. None of it mattered now. Sarah was gone and she had been gone for 2 long years. A few months in Storybrooke felt like years in Neverland. 2 years in Storybrooke felt like centuries in Neverland. No matter how long it felt, Peter knew he would never forget Sarah and he was positive that his heart only had room for one person... and that person was Sarah.

He could still hear her voice. It was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. Her laugh was music to his ears. Oh, he missed her so much. Sarah was his true love. He had no idea if he would ever be able to truly let her go. He was surprised that he had allowed her to leave, knowing that Sarah probably wouldn't come back. But Sarah promised that she would return. She promised that she would come back to him. Peter had a good felling that she would return, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he was getting his hopes up. Maybe Sarah wouldn't be coming back, after all. Maybe he should just give up on Sarah and move on. After all, if Sarah hadn't returned by now, it wasn't likely that she would be returning at all. That idea made Peter start regretting allowing Sarah to leave.

Of course, if there was even a small chance that Sarah would come back, Peter wouldn't let go. Sarah meant far too much to Peter. She was his world, the only thing keeping him from becoming that evil boy he used to be. Sarah had brought something out of him, something he didn't even know he was capable of having; a pure heart. All these years, Peter thought his heart was cold and dead. He had kept it locked away so that nobody would be able to reach it. Somehow, Sarah was able to get it. It was like she was the angel that was able to bring his heart forward and change the way he felt.

Peter sighed and looked around the room he was in. It was Sarah's tree house. After Sarah had left, Felix had asked if they were going to take down Sarah's tree house. He had turned to his second in command and spoke to him. "No. Don't take the tree house down. If Sarah returns, she'll need a place to sleep." Felix had crossed his arms. "What if she doesn't return?" Peter's rage had been growing. "She will come back," he had said harshly. Felix had nodded and went away. That was 2 years ago.

That had been only a few moments after Sarah had been taken back to Storybrooke. Felix and Peter were back to normal. Things had obviously changed in Neverland since Sarah left. For instance, Peter wasn't so harsh or cruel towards the Lost Boys. Sarah had influenced him that much. It was so strange to him that Sarah was the daughter of one of the greatest villains of all time. She wasn't anything like her mother. Sarah's heart was more pure than her mother's. It was almost like Sarah wasn't Regina's daughter at all.

Peter was sitting on Sarah's bed. He really did like the way Sarah had decorated it when she first came here. It was very beautiful and you could see how full of nature the shelter was. Peter had used magic to keep the plants alive and make the tree house look just as alive as it had been when it was first made. Peter smiled to himself as he thought about Sarah's reaction to first seeing the tree house. She had looked both shocked and surprised, which Peter had enjoyed. Her eyes lit up at the sight and her face was one of the best sights in that moment.

Sighing, Peter stood up from the bed and placed a small package on the bed. There was a note attached to the package, one that Peter had written himself. The note was folded up and written on the top of it was a name. 'Sarah Mills' was written in big letters and had obviously been written with ink from magic. Peter smiled and took one final look at the room before walking out, leaving all of his previous thoughts in the back of his mind.
