Winter Grimm sat in the window seat in her bedroom looking out the window. There were gray clouds in the sky and it was raining. Even though she was inside, she could still feel the cold wind blowing against her window. Winter shivered.

Winter got up and went over to her night stand. She picked up the photo of her, her sister, and her mom. She missed her mom so very much. Jessica Grimm hadn't been seen for six years now, and there was little to no chance of Winter ever seeing her again. Winter looked out the window again. There was a car in the dirt driveway. Winter sighed, these must have been the people her father and uncle had been talking about. She really did not want to go down stairs to meet anyone, but it was the polite thing to do.

Once Winter was down stairs, she could hear people talking in the living room of their old wooden house. Winter walked into the living room. Her father was the first to see her. He waved for her to come in and sit down next to him on the couch. Winter sat down and looked at the people sitting across from her. There was a man with thinning brown hair, a woman with silver hair though she seemed to only be in her mid to late thirties, and a boy with jet black hair who seemed to be about Winter's age.

There was a loud clattering sound in the kitchen. A few moments later, Winter's grandma came in through the door way with freshly baked cookies on a plate. She sat the plate down and sat down in her old rocking chair. Then Winter's little sister, Lilly, came down from her room upstairs and sat on their father's lap. Then lastly, Winter's uncle came in and sat down on the couch next to Winter. Winter reached forward and grabbed a cookie from the plate, so did the boy sitting on the couch across from her.

"This is Mr. and Mrs.Black and their son Adrien. They are the ones who are renting the spare rooms," Winter's dad said.

"Mr.Grimm," Mr.Black said, "you haven't told us the names of you or the rest of your family."

"Sorry. This is my mother Mabel, my brother John, my eldest daughter Winter, my youngest daughter Lilly, and I'm David."

"Hello Mrs.Mabel, Mr.John, Miss.Lilly, and Miss.Winter," Mr.Black said.

Lilly giggled at being called "Miss. Lilly."

Winter's grandma gave a large, warm smile and told the Blacks to call her Grandma Mabel if they liked. Winter nodded her head and said hi. Winter's uncle said hi. And Lilly gave a HUGE smile and said hi.

After a few more minuets of talking, Winter's dad told Mrs. and Mr.Black that he would show them where everything was. "And Winter, would you show Adrien around please?"

"Sure dad," Winter said.

Winter's dad took Mrs. and Mr.Black upstairs, so Winter showed Adrien around the main level first. She showed him where the kitchen was, and the bathroom, and the dinning room. Winter noticed that Adrien more listened than talked as she showed him around the house. It wasn't till she showed him where his room was that he said more than "okay" or "cool".

"Is your last name like the Brothers Grimm?" he asked.

"Yes. According to Grandma Mabel, I'm a descendant of Jacob Grimm."

"That's really cool!"

Winter gave a half-smile. "If only he knew," she thought.
