Kaiden let Zahara lead him through the kitchen."So this here is the main kitchen. I only have ten people work in here so don't get in there way and if they ask anything of you make sure you do it. We're running a tight schedule so I don't have any time for slackers young man." The older woman said as her tone tightened a little. Kaiden just nodded nervously as he followed her. She led him into a long corridor that was painted in black and gold. These are the slave quarters or dorms, we live here. We don't ever leave out into the city unless we have special permission from master Hades." Zahara said as she showed him to his dorm.
She unlocked the door with a key hanging on a big metal circle ring. The ring held it least a hundred keys or more with different shapes and colors. The woman opened the door for him as she showed him inside. The floor was wood that was cold to the touch. The room itself held an eerie feel that he didn't appreciate in the slightest. There was only one bed in the far left corner of the small room. Besides the bed in the room there was a dresser and a small night stand. A small window was right above the bed casting a red glow to the floor. Lastly a small alarm clock was across the room on top of the dresser. The large red numbers read it was only eight-thirthy pm.
"I wouldn't bother with the clock lad. It hasn't changed for years now." Zahara stated as she looked at the clock sadly.
"Why don't you just buy a new one then?" Kaiden asked curiously as he walked further into the room.
"It's new, we just bought it three weeks ago. The time won't change here in the palace for some reason." She explained. A chill crept up his spine as he looked back at the clock. He didn't like the feeling he got from this place. Then again nothing felt right with the underworld. It's the place of the dead. Which meant there's an Olympus, there has to be.
"There is but I don't think you're going up there any time soon." Zahara said as she held an emotionless look to her face.
The boy blushed softly, "oh sorry did I say that out loud?" He asked as he nervously ran a hand through his hair.
"Is the sky red?" She asked as her eyes met his blue ones.
Kaiden was about to say no, he was going to correct her that the sky is in-fact blue but then remembered that he's in the underworld now.
"Uh yeah, unfortunately." He responded as he sighed in disappointment. He so longed to be in the green grass and warm sun. Where the birds chirped and the leaves sung in the wind. Now he wasn't sure that he would ever get back.
"-ange now." Zahara's voice broke his train of thought as she looked expectantly at him.
"I'm sorry I was daydreaming what was that?" He asked sheepishly.
"I think it's time you change your clothes now. There's a suit in the dresser that should fit you nicely. Dinner is almost served. I would hurry if I were you." Zahara said before giving one last glance at the clock before shutting the door quietly behind her leaving him alone in the cold dark room. He walked over the dresser and opened it up. A suit black suit with a gold vest was folded nicely. He took out the suit and put it on. He looked in the dresser mirror as he inspected himself. He fixed his hair slightly as he smirked, "not to shabby if I do say so myself."
A knock came at his door. He walked over to the wooden door as he gripped the back handle and opened it. A young man with pointed ears and green eyes greeted him.
"It's time for dinner, Ms. Zahara is asking for your presence." The man said before leaving in a hurry.
Kaiden went to the kitchen to see steaming plates filled with all sorts of food. From chicken to ham and some black looking substance sitting in a bowl with a large spoon in it the odd looking liquid ready to be served.
"Ah Kaiden my dear fetch the wine over on the counter and bring it upstairs to the dinning room will ya please." Zahara said as she pointed to two bottles of wine on a far counter. He went over to the bottles and looked them over. They didn't have a label on the bottles which was odd. The only thing on the bottle in terms of decoration was a small red stamp on the cork of a vine of grapes.
He shook his head as he headed up the steep stairs. Kaiden wasn't quite sure where to go as he opened a door leading towards a long hallway.
"Oh shit where am I." He asked himself quietly as he looked at both ends of the creepy dark hallway.
"I believe your looking for the dinning hall, which isn't here." A recognizable voice said from behind him that he knew all to well.
"Deni, how nice to see you." Kaiden said with a smile on his face.
"Don't call me that mortal," Deninias said as he grabbed Kaiden by the arm and led him down the hallway.
"So how's life treating you." Kaiden said trying to make small talk.
"It was going well till you showed up." Deninias said truthfully with no expression on his face.
"Ouch, and I thought we were gonna be BFF's." Kaiden said as he smirked, Deninias just scoffed at that and said no more. Kaiden could now smell the food as they got closer to what Kaiden guessed as the dinning hall. The hallway suddenly got really bright as they came upon two golden doors with two body guards standing there. They opened the doors for them as Deninias kept a good hold on Kaiden. All eyes looked towards them as Deninias let go of the mortal boy.
Hades' eyes were the most noticeable, especially since that's the only pair of eyes that were shooting daggers at him.
