Sixth grade.

Things happen when you're in sixth grade. You look your absolute worst being that puberty has either hit you entirely really early or sometimes really late in life. You either are a short little wimp with a high pitched voice and glasses who hasn't had their growth spurt yet or even worse for a girl--you haven't bought your first actual bra that doesn't have the word "training" in front of it when spoken in a statement.

Cassidy Scott had almost everything, actually. Killer clothes? Almost, I mean they were often from thrift shops or clearance racks, but the labels were the real thing and she paired it up pretty cool for a middle schooler. Heels? Check. Her closet had a lot of them. Cassidy kind of stopped growing early, so when she hit sixth grade and was still barely scratching the surface of five feet, she asked her mom for heeled boots and wedges, which her mother agreed. After all, she was pretty short herself and all she wanted was her daughter to have a fair shot at reaching the top shelf too. Skills? Check. The blonde knew how to draw and sing, which she used to her advantage in art class and school talent shows. A good liar? Eh, the blonde called it being a good actress, but sure, we could check this off because she was a pretty decent liar. Cute boyfriend? Double check.

Liam Dunbar was the heart breaker of sixth grade, and by heart breaker, she definitely meant he broke the hearts of others. How she ended up with him, she wasn't sure. Cassidy and Liam were paired up for a project in class and being that she could draw and he was rather smart depending on the subject--in this case, he was pretty decent at science--he decided she'd do the artwork for the science project and he'd type up the report to paste onto the board. They both decided to do equal parts of the project.

Cassidy can't remember where or exactly how it happened. All she knew was they had received an A minus on the project. Liam and Cassidy were sitting underneath a tree, laughing about their accomplishment and arguing who was more responsible for the good grade, Liam's actual good use of grammar or Cassidy's art and drawing skills. His hand brushed hers, which made her blush. Cassidy to this day, will fight that she does not blush unless its the matter of Liam Dunbar and the way his blue eyes seemed to be the most beautiful thing she's let her blue eyes ever see. Her eyes met his and his lips touched against her cheek.

It was so innocent and so real, it made Cassidy's heart flutter. The one moment and instance in working together and sitting underneath a tree led to him buying her lunch one day when she didn't have the cash. From there he bought her pizza after school and she held his hand as they walked around in the halls and during outings. He taught her how to play video games, she taught him the guitar. Liam would tell her how he loved the game of Lacrosse and have her play goalie or Cassidy would have to get the ball into the goal as Liam practiced his goalie skills. He'd swing her around when she got too close to the goal. Goalie's rules he'd laugh as his hands would remain tightly around her waist and Cassidy would shut her eyes tightly and laugh. Really laugh. Not the fake ones she'd reserve for stupid teacher jokes and horrible mean girl sarcasm that was so disgustingly dumb that the blonde would fake laugh before completely destroying their egos. No, Liam got everything real and pure from the small blonde. They were ideal. While he often got angry, she was the one who knew how to keep in check. Cassidy often had her own moments of anger and hers were spurts of revenge, vengeance and destruction, and Liam would be the one to center her back to the real world.
