"What the actual fuck just happened?" Jeanz said as Alex left us.
"Well we found out all this has something to do with your family and that you have badass super powers." I replied, still dazed.
"Please don't repeat the last part," Jeanz said, rubbing his temples.
"Try it out," I blurted out.
"What?"
"Your super powers," I said, smiling and ignoring what he said. "As Alex said, it is only beneficial when you can access to it."
"Not today, man, too much has happened," Then Jeanz left without a word.
*
I didn't see Jeanz for the rest of the day so I decided to go home by myself. I kicked a stone from the pavement. Why was Jeanz so refusing to the idea of practicing his super powers? I mean, it would be really- it will be really cool and maybe it could actually help with defeating the "monster". As I turned towards my house, I realized, what if, he did know something about his super powers and he's scared of it? I halted in front of my porch, taking in what I just thought of. I flung my school bag to the porch and yelled "MOM I'M GOING TO JEANZ'S!"
*
I banged on the door of Jeanz's house. Open the door damn you, I thought. I have been throwing my fist on his door for about 10 minutes now. Just then, a weary Jeanz opened the door slowly.
"What's up with you anyway?" I huffed angrily as I walked in. "Took you 10 freaking minutes to open one goddamn door."
"Hey, can you get out?"
"What?" I turned to him, shocked. He had never asked me to leave his house.
"Can you get out of my house?"
Seeing that he was in a bad mood, I decided to ignore him, which, was in fact a bad decision.
"I figured out maybe you do know something about your super power and you are just not tellin-"
"GET OUT!" He hollered. Then it happened. Everything seemed to be moving in slow action. Him hollering at me, saliva spatting out, red veins creeping up to his eyes starting from his neck, his eyes slowly turning a bright blood red colour and laser shooting out from them.
"Whoa," I breathed, lying on the floor with my eyes wide. If I hadn't been quick enough to dodge his laser eyes, I would've died. A hole with burnt edges was left on the wall behind us from the laser though.
"So-"
"You were right." Jeanz sighed and hung his head low.
"When did it start?" I slowly stood up, trying not to stutter.
"Last year," He said, sitting down, burying his head in his palms. "Do you remember the time when my mom fell down from the stairs and was sent to the hospital?
I nodded.
"The doctors said it was pretty serious, so I freaked out. I thought she leaving- going to die.
"So I was really pissed when the doctor said I couldn't go in the room and see her just yet, and I yelled at the doctor and kind of burnt the corner of his lab coat."
"What?" I exclaimed. "What did he do?"
"Here comes the weirdest part: he treated it like normal, almost like he had seen that before." Jeanz fiddled on the hem of his shirt.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusement.
This is supernatural, it couldn't be normal. It's not.
"Unless," Jeanz said, slowly looking up to face me "Unless there were cases like this before."
