Ermmm... What?!

I arrived at my piano teacher's house. I got out of the car and my parents were about to leave when Mrs. Brown, my piano teacher, came out.

"Ava, Mark! Stay for a bit. I have something to tell you all." she said, gesturing for us to come inside.

My parents got out of the car and we all shot each other confused looks.

What did Mrs. Brown need to tell us?

We walked into the house and sat down in the living room. It felt like parent teacher conference.

"Well, first of all, Krys has been amazing and improved so much since she first started. She can probably play like a master. I would love to continue teaching Krys."

My parents looked at me proudly and I smiled at them.

"But, my husband just got a job transfer up in Chicago and we need to move. We will be moving on Friday so today will be the last lesson I can provide."

I blinked once. Twice. Three times.

"Ermmm...what?!" I exclaimed.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie. But, I can't help it." replied Mrs. Brown.

"It's okay, Alice. It's a shame that you're leaving since you're a very close friend of ours, but we can find someone else." said my dad. My parents were both trying to keep a smile on their face but I knew that it was forced. Mrs. Brown had been a close friend of my family since as long as I can remember.

Wait... FIND SOMEONE ELSE?!

I was about to say something when my parents shot me a look saying, 'We will talk about this at home.' Defeated, I sat down, sighing.

After a little more discussion, my parents left and Mrs. Brown and I started our last lesson.

When I got home, my parents and I headed to the kitchen.

Once there, we sat down and they started talking.

"Krys, I know you're not gonna like this, but we will need to find a new teacher."

"But why?! I can play fine on my own! I mean I already know everything!"

"There's always room for improvement," argued my dad.

"But-"

"How about this? We will find a new teacher and you just need to have three lessons with them. If you still don't like them, then you can stop going," my mom suggested.

I contemplated for a moment. It was a pretty good deal.

"Okay," I agreed.

Smiles grew on my parents faces.

"Good," said my mom, "Now go do something. I need to cook lunch."

"I'm gonna go to Brynn's house."

"Okay."

I went outside and walked next door. Brynn was my best friend and next door neighbor. Her parents were my parents' best friends too so we knew each other since we were in diapers.

I opened the door and walked in. I usually do this since they are like my second family and same goes for Brynn.

"Krys, is that you?" asked a voice I recognized as Evelyn, Brynn's mom.

"Yeah. Is Brynn home?"

"Yeah. She's in shower."

"This early? Is she going somewhere?" I queried. Brynn usually takes a shower at night like me. She only takes a shower in the morning or afternoon when she has go somewhere, like an event or something that requires her to look nice.

"Yep. In like, two hours, she's going to a parent teacher conference at school."

"Of course. I should've known." I said, shaking my head. Brynn isn't all that great at academics unlike me. She has to go to parent teacher conferences from time to time because her grades are slipping. Now, fashion design is a completely different story. She has made many dresses and outfits and let me just say, a teenage girl shouldn't be capable of creating something like that. They are amazing and just gorgeous. So basically, most of her closet and some of mine are made up of her creations.

I went over to the couch and turned on the TV. SpongeBob was playing on Nickelodeon so I decided to watch that since SpongeBob is just awesome. The episode soon ended so I got up in search for food. I found a box of Ritz crackers and found some ham and cheese. I took a slice of ham and a piece of cheese with me along with the Ritz crackers. I tore a piece of ham and cheese, put it on a cracker, then covered it with another cracker. I put the whole thing in my mouth and continued the process.

Brynn came down after five minutes. Her blonde hair tumbled down to her chest. She was wearing a light orange top with jean shorts.

"Hey," she greeted.

"Whattup," I replied.

"Nothin' much. I'm about to go to a conference. You?"

"I need a new piano teacher."

"What? Why?!"

"Because Mrs. Brown needs to move to Chicago for her husband's freaking job," I scowled.

"That sucks."

"Yeah, but my parents said that I only need to go three times and if I still don't like it, I don't have to go anymore."

"Awesome. Wanna go bother Felix?"

Hearing that string of words made me perk right up.

"Yes! Let's go!"

Felix was another one of my best friends. The three of us have been friends since second grade.

We headed out the door and walked around the block. One of the reasons why we three were best friends was because we live in the same neighborhood. It's very convenient. It took around three minutes to get to his house and as usual, we barged right in without knocking.

We spotted Felix on the couch watching Criminal Minds while munching on some popcorn. His light brown hair was gelled up and he had on a black graphic tee that had cats with sunglasses. He wore a pair of ripped jeans.

He was so into the show that he didn't notice us walk up to him. We then decided to scare him, making him jump a bit. Some of his popcorn flew out of his hand and he had his hand over his heart. We burst out laughing while he just glared at us.

"You guys scared me."

"No kidding," I replied while laughing.

We soon calmed down and sat on the couch, watching the rest of Criminal Minds.
