Hi Guys! This is very short, and I apologize. I just felt like her visit to Janie's should be a different chapter, but here you go. Enjoy chapter two!

“Alicia, you are one hundred percent healthy. I’m sorry, but I cannot seem to find any specific reason for you sleep trouble.”
I sighed and stared down at my pink polished toes. My white Old Navy flip-flops hung loosely on my feet, as I swung my legs back and forth to calm my nerves. Like I said, doctors make me worry.
“Has there been anything bothering you lately? Are you stressed out?” He quickly asked. “Alicia, look at me when I’m talking to you!”
“No,” I answered straightly. Dr. Krose stared at me as if he was reading something controversial.
“You sure? Nothing is wrong?”
“Yes,” I was a terrible liar. Images of my nightmare entered my mind, giving me a little shiver. My responses had to be short. If I talked too much, my voice would trail off.
“Alicia, the only explanation I can come to is if this is an adolescent sort of thing. I’ve seen this happen before. It’s normal.”
“Normal? You think waking up screaming is normal?!” I was so angry. Part of me wanted to punch him.
“Alicia, it’s along the same lines as a mood swing. I’m sure that this is just a phase, and in a week or so this will be over.” Why did he start every statement with my first name? It was really getting on my nerves.
“Can’t we do anything? Take more tests?! More vaccinations?”
~~~~~~~~
“Alicia,” There was that voice again. “You must save yourself before it’s too late.”
It echoed off the sides of my brain. Scrunching my eyes shut, I moved my fingers in little circles on the sides of my head. I continued my path, going a little faster with each step I took. Truth was I had no idea where I was headed. Along the brick side walk, I passed many city shops. The barbers, flower shop, and pharmacy all were behind me now.
The horrible odors of Philadelphia filled the air causing me to put a disgusted look on top of my worried face.
Soon, a taxi cab pulled up next to the cement curb. It jerked to stop.
“Excuse me miss, you need a ride somewhere?”A dark skinned friendly looking man lowered his driver seat window.
Home, I thought. I needed a ride home.
At dinner…
“Mom, can I walk over to Janie’s after dinner? She wanted to hangout for a few hours.” I twirled my fork into the spaghetti.
“Sure, but it can’t be too late. You have practice tomorrow morning.”
Oh that’s right, cross country.
I reached across the table for the parmesan cheese shaker. Stretching my arm as far I could, my dad noticed I was struggling and handed it to me.
“Thanks,” I began shaking cheese all over the pasta.
“So how’d that doctor’s appointment go?” He asked.
I didn’t make eye contact; I was too busy putting on the cheese. “It went alright. He just says it’s a phase and I’ll be out of it soon.”
“Well that’s good to hear.”
“Alicia, not too much!” My mother stared in shock at my huge mountain of white powder cheese resting on my dinner.
“I like cheese,” I huffed, continuing to shake more.
“Enough!”
“Fine,” I sighed, placing the cheese down. I loved that stuff. If given the choice, I would eat it plain.
Blocking out the rest of my parents’ conversations, I continued to twirl and eat the rest of my spaghetti, and I sucked down the rest of lemonade.
“May I be excused?”
Mom looked down at my empty bowl and plate. “Yes, you’re excused.”Yay! I sprang up for the table and ran upstairs to my room.
Do you guys like Chapter two? There was a little clip from Alicia's dream (in italics). I hope that didn't confuse you because this is how I'm going to be writing. (Giving a little clip each chapter, so I guess you can call it a side story)
With parmesan cheese,
Audrey
