Chapter 3 -A Car Ride and Butterflies

sill Stiles's POV

After our last lesson (it was Chemistry with Mr. Harris) Scott and I walked to my jeep. I was going to drive Scott home because his dirt bike had to get repaired when Lydia, Allison and Derek walked towards us. First I was a little confused what they would want, I had already said yes to the date with Derek, but then I saw Lydia's car parked directly next to mine. So I assumed they were going to ride home together or something like that.

Suddenly Lydia stood right in front of me with a big smile on her face:" Hey Stiles, you know Derek's car is broken. First I wanted to drive him but then wouldn't I be back home on time. I'd miss my favourite tv show. So I thought you could drive him. Alisson and I can drive Scott, it's on my way." She looked at me with those puppy eyes, I wasn't sure whether it was true or not and she just wanted Derek and to me to be a thing. I thought she obviously wanted sterek (that's how she started calling Derek's and my thing, at least Scott told me this) but maybe the tv show thing was true, too. No matter what her intention was I was going to drive Derek home. She needed to believe my being gay story and Derek was a nice guy.

"Yeah, I can drive you, Derek, but only if it is okay with you and of course only if it is okay with you, too, Scott.", I answered. Scott and Derek just nodded at the same time. "Great! Let's go! And thank you, stiles, you are the best.", Lydia said and hugged me. Wait! What?! Lydia Martin just hugged me but it wasn't that special. I always thought it would be like a firework or I'd feel butterflies in my stomach but there was nothing. After like 10 seconds she let off of me and went to her car with Allison and Scott.

Derek and I just stood at the same place. It was a little awkward. I then cleared my throat:"Let's go! You can put your address in the navi." So we hopped into my beautiful jeep and I started the engine. When Derek had put his address into the navi, I started driving. It was silent. No one talked. It was like that awkward silence everyone talks about.

After about five minutes I laid my hand on the thing between our seats because I do it all the time. From the corner of my eyes I saw how Derek slowly put his hand in mine and we intertwined them. And suddenly there was that sparkle and those butterflies which were missing when Lydia had hugged me. I turned my had a little to look Derek into his eyes (btw they are so beautiful) and I saw him smiling. I could swear it was the first time I saw him smile and it made my heart skip a little. I smiled, too, I probably looked like a dork because Derek's smile grew. I could have looked at him like that for hours but I had to concentrate on the street. We didn't talke for the rest of the ride but it wasn't that awkward silence anymore it was comfortable.

We stopped in front of his house and he got out of the jeep, smiled and thanked me for the ride. Then he walked away but a little before he reached the door he turned around and smiled.

While I drove home I thought about what just had happened. Why did I feel all those butterflies when he touched me and not when Lydia did ??? Was I really gay? No, That couldn't be. I'm straight. And I am 100% sure. Okay maybe only 60%. Was I falling for Derek?

Suddenly my phone buzzed, it was a text from Derek :

Hi Stiles, thank you again for the ride. Allison gave me your number earlier today. I hope that's okay. Drive safe *kissing a heart emoji*

I smiled like crazy. Okay maybe, only MAYBE I liked Derek but only as a really good friend. I woudn't kiss him ore something like that.

A/N: uhhhh. some sterek action going on what do you think happens next????? Ikinda hate that chapter but I like it at the same time. the next time it is going to be derek's point of view . comment, vote, share
