Shay P.O.V
I wake up to the annoying sound of my girlfriend snoring, and turn to my alarm clock, remembering that today is the day I leave. 5:28. It will go off in 2 minutes. I disable the alarm clock and climb out of bed trying my best not to wake Ruby. I remove my shorts and baggy shirt and get dressed (A/N I've attached a picture of the outfit Shay is now wearing) The door squeaks when I am finally ready to leave and I see Ruby's eyelids flutter. I hold my breath hoping she doesn't wake up. Thankfully she goes back to sleep. I pick up my phone and see that I have a twitter notification from @ justins_jerry. "Finally a college girl along w/ @ straitforbeiber" I read the tweet from the girl who I become good friends with through twitter over the past couple of years. I open twitter and select 'quote tweet' "Excited and extremely nervous!!!" I reply and our tweets get many likes within seconds. I go into Ellie's room and get her dressed. I fasten her into her car seat. I pick up the seat and the suitcase of all her things. I leave the room rolling my packed duffel bag out and into the trunk of my small silver car. Ruby runs out of the house in her pyjamas. Good God, here we go. "You didn't wake me up! You were going to leave without kissing me goodbye!" She hugs me tight and presses her lips onto mine. "I love you" She whispers the 3 words I have yet to return. "I mean it Shay, I really love you. " She whispers looking deep into my eyes "Thank you" is all I say. I don't want to say the words to her if I don't mean them, because I won't. Truth is, my parents kicked my pregnant ass out of their house. I used to like boys... but then when I pretended to like Ruby so I could move in with her, I realized how much better girls were, the thing is, Ruby definitely isn't the girl for me. I put Ellie's car seat into the back seat and fasten it before getting another too - tight hug from the obnoxious red head. I climb into the drivers seat and back out of the driveway, while Ruby jumps up and down waving good bye, tears streaming down her face. Meanwhile I haven't cried once this morning and I'm the one leaving for Harvard. As soon as I start driving down the street I see a figure in the rear view mirror. Ruby sprinting after my car. I don't know what she thinks she is going to do. She obviously won't catch up and even if she did, what would she do? Lock me in her basement and keep me there forever? Probably. Like Poot Lovato. I chuckle at the thought of the picture of Poot. Ellie finally stops singing a song that consists only of the word "Mama" and goes to sleep.

A couple hours later I finally reach Jo's apartment. I enter the building and walk to the elevator. I push the button with the arrow pointing up and it lights up. I step into the elevator when it arrives and go up to the 5th floor. I knock on the door and Jo answers, her boyfriend standing behind her.
"Shay!" She hugs me. It's been a while since I've seen my best friend.
"How are you?" She asks.
"Nervous" I chuckle.
"I'll show you your room" We will be living here since I have a daughter, and school is already expensive enough, a dorm would just add to the price. I follow her down the hall and she opens the door. A small bed for me and a crib for Ellie.
"It's not much but it's bigger than a dorm" Jo shrugs
"You don't know how thankful I am, now I know you said rent free but-" she cuts me off.
"No Shay, you have a child and yourself to provide for, and school to pay for. I will take care of the rent." I smile at my best friend.
I drop my things on my floor and hand my daughter to Jo.
"I have to go now but Mama loves you" I kiss her on the forehead and leave the apartment.

The school is only about 15 minutes away from her house. I decide to go to the activity fair.
I walk around scanning the table of people promoting their clubs and groups. One catches my eye. Fabric club. I love to make clothes. I took sewing class when I was younger and made myself many outfits that I loved to wear. I would like to join things but I won't have anytime between classes, studying and Ellie. I see a girl leaning against a tree sitting on the grass. Her eyes concentrated on the book in her hand. 'The Great Gatsby' I think I read on the cover. I need to make some friends, and she looks more my speed compared to all these kids running around, I decide before approaching her.
"Hi" I smile and sit next to her. She doesn't look up from her book.
"Ummm... Hello?" She looks up adjusting her glasses, a confused look on her face. She tucks a hairs behind he ear that had fallen out of her messy ponytail.
"Me?" She points at herself.
"Umm... Yeah" I nod
"I'm Shay" I introduce myself.
"Scarlett... My name is Scarlett. Umm... Sorry I don't do this often, you could say I'm extremely socially awkward" she says.
"Great Gatsby?" I gesture to her book.
"Oh..." She looks down at her book "yeah, I uhm... I really like reading, I know it's nerdy and all but..." She trails off.
"It's not nerdy. Tell me something else about yourself." Her eyes widen.
"you mean like... You're interested in me, you're not going to leave?"
"No of course not."
"Oh well uhm... I uh... I like chocolate... A lot" she laughs. She has a cute laugh
"You tell me something now" she says
"I..." I start to think "I have a daughter, her name is Ellie" she smiles
"I love the name Ellie" she says. I smile at her and become excited about my new friend
