Chapter 7- Aftermath

ok probably going to be a relatively short chapter. i just want to move on from this stupid story.

As I opened my eyes I could hear moans and crying around me, Emeralds eyes over me. 

"Shes awake!"Emerald looked surprised. I sat up moaning looking around me at the battles aftermath. The grass was flattened and burnt is some places, rocks and branches from nearby trees littered the ground and everyone was bloody, bruised and covered in dirt either standing or kneeling by bodies on the ground. 

"Is everyone alright?" I asked even though I knew the answer.

"Not quite."Emerald had tears welling in her eyes and her eyes darted to where Storm and Sword were kneeling. "I shouldve been able to help." Hers tears overflowed streaming down her face leaving streaks in the dirt. I sat up slowly wrapping my arms around her and rubbing her back.

"Violet." Royals voice was heavy with relief and sorrow. "Sword come comfort your girlfriend, Violet needs to know whats going on."

"Yes, Royal." Sword sounded sad and completely serious, the first time I ever heard him so serious. Sword had come over to where I was and bent down, picking up Emerald and carry her off.

"Ok. So whos unjured and how?" I turned to Royal who had a large scarlike mark on his face.

"So soon as I saw that raven had attacked you, I was furious." Royal looked at his hands with a strange expression."Im not sure what I did but after it was done everyone was on the ground but me and some of the grass was on fire. The anti-court fled screaming, at least the 5 left alive did." 

"oh Royal." I hugged him as he held back sobs.

"Clovers dead. Clovers dead Violet and its my fault." He sobbed into my shoulder and I let us sink to the ground. 

"Shhh." I started humming a song we had made up together recently until Royal gathered himself enough to speak.

"Emerald was uninjured so she started trying to heal everyone right away."Royals voice was soft as he spoke,"She could heal almost all of our injuries. She almost saved Clover but was too late." HIs voice cracked,"She tried to heal B-Book but she couldnt all the way."He started sobbing again.

"After the battle was over the first place i was was at Books side." Storm suddenly started talking from behind me. "The first thing he said to me was "Everythings ok. I dont even feel any pain." I knew he was ok his neck was bent at an odd angle."Storm took a shaky breath."I was going to lose him. I was sure he was going to die. I screamed for Emerald, I screamed for her to save him. She ran to us, tears streaming her face and she told me she couldnt save Clover but she was going to save Book." Storm glanced at Emerald who was wiping her tears. "She did everything she could and more and she did it she saved him. But not all the way. She had turned to me and told  me he had broken his neck and spine in multiple places she could fix them but not all the way. Book will never walk again." Storms face was red and she turned around and ran back to Book.

"Oh my god." I muttered tears stinging my eyes. I leaned into Royal,"Is anyone else hurt?" 

"Fuschia is blind in one eye and cant move her right arm. Other then that no one is seriously injured." Royal looked me in the eyes and we kissed. A kiss full of sorrow and pain but yet a strange joy, we had survived, we were together as it would remain for the rest of our lives.
