Chapter two- The Others

As I walked into the dining hall I was amazed at how large the room was, it was probably 2 floors high and extremely long and wide, with enough seating and tables for a thousand people or more. But strangely only 10 seats were taken. Mrs.Crystal hurried over and in one of the empty seats near The Professer and 2 other adults who I didn't know. A little way away from them sat seven kids my age, 4 boys and 3 girls. As I walked towards them The Professer told us to introduce ourselves.

So I did, "Hello, I'm Emily." I said.

"That's a funny accent you've got there, Emily. I'm Dexter." A boy with a scottish accent said, he had green eyes, short red hair and was fairly tall and muscular. I automatically liked him.

"I'm Esme." (pronounced Es-may) A pretty girl with brown eyes and slightly dark skin said. Her hair went down to her chest and was dark brown at the roots but slowly lightened untill at the tips it was blond, she, like all the kids at the table, was lean and muscular. She was tall, unlike me.

"I am from Spain. Where are you from?" She asked.

"I'm from here in Nova Scotia." I replied. The rest of the introductions were basically the same. The other girls were Aranea (Are-an-ee-a) from Southern Africa and Ash (she told us to call her that after she said her full name which is pratically unpronouncable and unspellable) was from Japan. Ash was tall and had shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes, Aranea was short and had waist length black hair and eyes that were such a dark brown they look black. The boys were Jeffory, from England, Alexander, from the U.S.A and Gabriel, from Brazil. Jeffory had spiky blond hair with brown streaks, he was tall and had blue eyes with brown dots in the middle, Alexander had caramel coloured hair that was cropped short , he was short and had green eyes. Gabriel was a medium height with big brown eyes and shaggy black hair. Our backgrounds were all similar, parents who hated us, not many, if any friends, skipped at least 1 grade and got brought there in the middle of lunch on a school day without knowing we were leaving untill a man in a black suit with sunglasses came and got us.

The Professer introduced the other adults. There was Mrs.Crystal, Mrs.Petal and Mr.Coal. Mrs.Petal had extremely light green eyes and light brown hair, she was very short, Mr.Coal had pratically black eyes, whiteish blond hair that almost touched his shoulders and he was extremely tall.

Supper was as amazing as everything else about the school. It was a large turkey dinner with so many things to choose from, sooo many delicious choices. 6 different types of stuffing, so many vegtables I couldn't name them all, a huge turkey of course and many others things some of which I didn't even know what they were.  During supper The Professer told us that the school was made into a school just for us and we would be the only students ever to attend there.

"Because you're special" The Professer said. He told us that once we completed our education we would live there at the school, it would be all of ours to share. I thought that was very strange and was very confused at what The Professer was saying. The only thing I really understood was that classes would start as soon as we were changed into less fancy clothes.

The other girls and I got led back to our rooms by Mrs.Crystal and Mrs. Petal who were both very chatty. They told us to "Hurry, hurry, hurry. Lets get this party started" I darted into my room which was across from Esme's and beside Ash's. I ran to my closet and changed into a loose, comfy pair of bright orange caprees and a flowy violet shirt. When I got out of my room everyone was already waiting for me.

"What? I'm a slow changer" I said when they loked at me funny. We hurried down some more confusing hallways and met up with the boys, Mr.Coal and The Professer before turning into a room with a few reclining chairs, a couch and some bean-bag chairs.

"OK, is everyone ready for something to learn at thier new school?" Mr.Coal said in a cheery voice.

"It starts with something you may not believe."Mrs.Petal sounded like she was going to jump out of her skin, she was so excited.

"You've all always known you're a little different than other kids. But that diference may be more than you relised"Mrs.Crystal said while beaming at all of us.
