There, laying on my bed, was Oli. He was flipping through the book I had thrown earlier. "Is that anyway to greet your boyfriend for a date?" Oli asked his accent thick dripping with fake hurt. I stared at him not knowing what to say or do. There was Oli lying there lazily on my bed dressed casually in a pair of dark black skinny jeans a white and black stripped shirt and red and black flannel wrapped tightly around his waist. His hair wasn't combed or brushed and just seemed to rest there on top of his forehead. I walked towards him and gently pushed a loose strand out of his face and tucked it neatly in place. He sat up grabbing my hand and dragging me into his lap. A soft laugh escaped my lips as I straddled his thighs and kissed the bridge of his nose. There it is again. the compulsive need to be romantic with someone I had no memory of.
"What are you doing here?" I asked softly, more focused on the feeling his hands slowly make there way to my hips, holding me in place. He looked up at me and his thin lips spread into a small smile. My heart seemed to speed up a little.
"Like I said, we're going on a date. As much as I love you sitting on top of me we should get going. I have a fun night planned for us." I climbed off of Oli and watched as he walked back to the window from which I am assuming is how he got in here in the first place. I looked around my room and quickly grabbed the first pair of pants that I saw and yanked them over the boxers. I could sense Oli watching me from across the room. I found a plain gray shirt hanging out of my closet and tugged it over my body. Oli tossed me my sneakers from the corner of my bedroom. Finally I was dressed and ready to go. I felt like something was holding me back.
"Oli are you sure this is a good idea?" I asked looking between my bedroom door and the window. Oli looked around the room for a brief second trying to avoid eye contact.
"No, I'm not sure it is, but I do know I'd rather be with you right now than be doing anything else." I took a deep breath and decided to ignore my better judgement and leave with Oli. I'm such a cliche; letting myself be tempted into getting into trouble by the cute boy with the hot British accent. I turned off my beside lamp, basking my room in pitch black darkness. I allowed Oli to go down first. He had brought a ladder, but from the way it creaked under his weight I didn't trust it.
"Come on Kellin!" Oli shouted from the ground. I took another backwards step onto the ladder and heard it groan underneath my feet.
"Oli! I'm gonna die!"My voice was hoarse, but I'm sure he could hear the panic in my voice.
" It's going to be fine. I promise I got you babe. Nothing's going to happen." His words added some comfort to me, but not much. I took another step and then another. The ground got closer and closer before I knew it I was three steps from the grass. Oli was still watching me intently. A sly smile crept on my face as an idea came to me. I went to take another step and pretended to lose my footing. I fell backwards and before I could hit the ground Oli's hands were holding the small of my back and carrying me from the ladder bridal style. I looked up at him and was amazed by what I saw. His thin pale face was illuminated by the moonlight. He was looking down at me with his gorgeous brown eyes and even though I was no longer in "danger" his grip never let up.
"Thanks for catching me." I said quietly. He put me back on my feet and looked down at me. He was frowning lightly. He quickly bent down and kissed me. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the way his lips felt on mine. The kiss was soft and gently, but still needy at the same time. I kissed him back deepening the kiss. His tongue grazed my bottom lip as if asking for permission, which I eagerly gave him. His hands reached up and held each side of my hair. I felt his fingers tangle themselves in my hair. His tongue explored my mouth and I loved every bit of it. He pulled back from me, but not before pecking me on the lips one last time.
"I'll always be there to catch you." He said before kissing my forehead. Then he pinched my arm. "Don't ever pull that shit again! You could've hurt yourself." Oli said before walking away towards the street. I ran up to him and grabbed his hand.
"Calm down it was barely a two foot drop." I said trying to pay attention to where we were walking to. Oli didn't respond. Instead he just walked, while I struggled to keep up. The walk was really silent and I wondered what had changed with him. I decided not to question him and instead turned my focus on the street names. None of them seemed familiar. Without Oli I probably wouldn't be able to find my way back home. No the homes that lined the sides of the street were blurred and I was getting very confused and lightheaded. Lucky for me Oli gave my hand a small tug and we turned on the grass. With my vision getting clearer I could see that we were at a small children's park. Oli walked a little faster towards a giant willow tree that stood off to the side of all the playground equipment.
It was your basic run of the mill neighborhood park. The complex structure was brightly colored and looked fairly new underneath the street lights. There were three slides and a set of swings. One side was for the older children and even had the a tire swing. The other side had three baby swings all moving silently in the small breeze that blew past us. Right beside the park was a giant field. It was a fun place to hang around in and have picnics. There was a small pond in the field and It was fun to watch the small baby ducks play around in the water. A flashback hit me and it was almost as if I could see Vic and I feeding the ducks and walking aimlessly through the park. I was laughing at Vic while he was running from a very small baby duck. Oli's voice pulled me out of the sudden memory.
"You might not remember this but right under this tree is where we had our first kiss. You were just about to head off to college and we had been dating for about two weeks. The night before you left I brought you here. You kissed me first and for some odd reason I was embarrassed. " Oli held my hand tighter as if he was going to fall if he wasn't holding on to me this exact second. We approached the tree and I shivered a little as the cold air from the pond wrapped around me. Oli placed his arm around my shoulder and brought me in close to him. The warmth from him was inviting and comforting. Oli then moved his arm and undid the flannel wrapped around his waist. He placed the flannel on me and I put it on. He looked down with concern shown on his face. He gave the fabric a small tug making it wrap a little tighter.
"I can do it myself you know?" I said grinning up at him. He snorted and gave me a half smile.
"You know our names are carved on this tree right?" Oli asked once again ignoring on of my questions. He grabbed my hand again and began looking and skimming his hand along the rough bark of the tree. After a few minutes he shrieked in triumph. "Look our names are right here." He said pointing at sprawling in the tree. Pulling my phone out of my back pocket I turned the flashlight on and pointed it at the bark.
"Who's Dli and Kellim?" I asked as I looked closer at the eligible writing. Oli groaned beside me and I couldn't help but laugh a little at his mistake.
"Shut up! You try writing names like Kellin and Oli in a tree with a dull army knife." Oli said pretending to be defensive.
"Whatever you say Dli." I said laughing a little bit harder now. When Oli pushed me up against the tree. His arm was wrapped around my waist and pushed my hips towards his. I had stopped laughing and was now staring at the beautiful boy in front of me. Oli leaned in and whispered in my ear; his breath soft and sweet.
"I said shut up." His words were forceful, but he wasn't.
"Make me." I said teasingly. He then smashed his lips against mine and began grinding his hips into me. I kissed him back tangling my fingers in his brown locks and forcing him closer to me. I was really getting into when Oli jumped away from me. He ran his fingers through his hair while I sat there looking at him as if we were a ghost.
"We can't. I mean not right now at least. Fuck...Kellin I have to tell you something." Oli was no longer cool and collected, but a frantic stuttering mess. Honestly I was a little scared by what he might say if it caused him to freak out over us making out. Before I could ask what was wrong a blinding white light shown on the both of us. I froze in fear that it might be the cops. As the light got closer I was able to make out who was coming towards us. It was Vic.
"Fuck me!"
