Another Day

I woke up to the same arguments my parents usually had. It was usually about something stupid, whether it was the bills not being paid, or how I was going to go to college in a few years. I shake my head and turn towards the wall, laying down. Sometimes, I had wondered what it was like to be happy. I sighed, then got up out of bed. I heard my mother screaming through the walls. Great. I thought. "Okay! Knock it off! Allow me to have peace!" I yelled. My father laughed loudly. "How about you're next, Baylee?" He asked, walking towards my room. I hear his footsteps, thumping onto the floor. Immediately, I grab my backpack and climb out of the window, heading to school. My phone rings. I take it out of my pocket, to see my father's name: Marcus. Nope, not this time. I decline the call. To make sure he doesn't call again, I turn the phone off. I smile, satisfied. After approximately ten minutes, I approach my new school. I read the sign outside of it. Gaylord High. I walk inside, not seeing many people. I liked the fact that there wasn't a lot of people in this school. Less people make it less likely to get run over in the hallways. I see a sign that says "office". I walked into the office. "Hi, may I help you, young lady?" the Secretary asks. I hesitate to speak. "I.. Um.. I'm new. My name is Baylee Davis." The secretary gives me an odd look, then begins to type on her computer. "Yes, I see. Baylee Davis, sixteen-year-old female. Am I correct?" I nod my head. I hear something printing behind me. The Secretary gestures toward the printed paper, and I take it. "That's your schedule. It has room numbers as well as names of teachers." I smile, not quite understanding. I walk away, waving. This was a start to the best day of my life. Things were finally going to start looking up.
