There were so many faces. How was I supposed to start making friends? I'll just let them come to me... I thought. Eventually, they did. I heard a familiar voice saying my name. "Baylee! Oh my god, I haven't seen you since sixth grade!" I turn to face Kassidy, my old friend from middle school. My eyes grow wide. I remember a lot about Kassidy. Her dirty blonde hair, her brown eyes, and I remember how she used to disappear and come back. It used to scare me, then I got used to it. After she left, I did the same thing. I started leaving my house without warning, then returning late at night days later. She left simply to go have fun; I left to get away from my family temporarily. I knew I couldn't stay away, so I stayed at my aunts house, claiming to want "quality time" with her, when I really needed to vent to her about everything that was going on at home. So, there we were. I had no idea what to say. I wanted to tell her how much things have changed since we last saw each other, but I didn't want to concern her. So, I just smiled, tucking away my feelings, hiding them in my personal vault. "How have you been?" She asked me. I hesitated to answer. "I.. Well.. That's not important right now. I thought you moved." I said, attempting to change the subject. "No, I actually switched to homeschooling for a while." She replied. I was tempted to ask why, but if I did, she would ask about me, so I kept my mouth shut. I nodded my head, smiling. We found ourselves in awkward silence, until, eventually, she said, "Okay, I'll see you around." I waved, then walked away. A particular guy caught my eye just as I was walking away. I saw his black hair, his handsome smile, and then I noticed his personality.
He approaches me. Oh, God, what do I do? I thought. I smiled. "Hi, what's your name?" He asked me. "Me? I.. Um.. My name is Baylee." I said. He smiles. "Baylee...I love that name." I stood there for a few moments, then finally decided to ask his name. "So, what about you? What's your name?" I ask, now that I'm comfortable talking to him. "My name is J.T." he says. I laugh. "That's your real name? J.T.?" He nervously begins to scratch the back of his head. "It stands for something, but that something shall remain a mystery." I shrug. "Okay, then." He nods his head. "So, what classes do you have?" He asks. I take my schedule out of my pocket, and unfold it. "Geometry, World History, English II, Biology II, Spanish, Personal Finance, and Art." I said. He grins. "We have five classes together." I grinned back. "That's great! I guess I'll see you in class?" I asked. He looks around. "You're done talking to me?" He asked. I frown. "No! It's not like that. You know what I mean." I said. He grins. "I'm just messing with you." I punch him on the shoulder, smiling. "You're terrible." I said. He turns to walk away. "Okay, I shall see you in class." He announced. "Okay, bye." I heard the bell ring. I rushed to the classroom. It was time for my Geometry class to begin. I sat in the desk next to J.T., then smiled at him. He grinned back. From that moment on, I knew I had a new best guy friend, who is known as J.T.
