I smiled at the dark-Raven locks that cascaded down the pillow and back of my beautiful wife. My fingers danced around the pale skin of her side, smiling like an idiot as I saw the slight movements of her breathing. Even after 10 years, I was stilled overwhelmed at how I got this beautiful girl. It seemed so unreal to me.
I heard a groan as the dark-haired girl turned over in her sleep, her forehead inches from mine. I reached my hand over and rubbed the pad of my thumb over her cheek soothingly causing her to sigh in content. My eyes scanned down from her facial features down to her sheet-covered chest, watching as it rose and fell from eased breaths. I know I'd have to leave soon for work but I really don't want to. Construction and lifting heavy things gets old after a while, which just makes it even more torturing to leave this beautiful woman every morning. It's been rocky, not too bad, but just little arguments here and there; she has been looking at new houses up in the city, and me being me--a small town girl--doesn't really want to deal with the many distractions and crazy life of the city, but she does. I would normally give in and abide to her wishes, but I know if we moved to the city she'd want to go out with her friends more. I have nothing against her friends, they're lovely, it's just that when they hang out, they hang out for hours upon hours and aren't even home until 2-3 in the morning. So sometimes, I don't get to even see her. I usually just see her for a few minutes before I have to get up for work, but last night was a surprising exception. We had been laying in bed watching movies when she just looked up and stared at me for what seemed like hours. When I finally built up the courage to look back into her bright green-grey eyes, her lips were softly pressed against mine. Things ultimately progressed into slow and passionate sex. I wasn't complaining, it's just took me by surprise.
Which puts us in this current situation, me mentally arguing with myself on whether I should leave for work or stay and cuddle with my beautiful naked wife. My better judgement won in this situation as I got up to shower and get dressed for work. I took one look at the sleeping girl before I went in the bathroom, she had her arms wrapped around my pillow probably thinking it was me. I sighed and dragged myself into the bathroom.

I reluctantly walked onto the construction sight that I was currently working on, though I don't know for how long since the construction company is starting to make some cuts. I really don't need to be losing my job right now, that's just another thing for us to get in a fight about when I get home. About a week ago, we had gotten into a heated argument about kids, we don't have any and that's the problem. I want kids desperately, but she doesn't. She says she doesn't need any "distractions" or "little annoying brats" running around while she's working on her career. That really broke my heart, one of my dreams was to have kids with her. I had ultimately left right after our fight and stayed at my friends house for a few days to cool off and process what had just happened.
I shake my head, getting the upsetting memories out of my head. I need to focus so I don't cut off a limb. I grabbed my tool belt and adjusted my hard hat as I made my way up a ladder to the fifth floor. It was a pretty big building that we were working on, it was probably gonna be turned into a law office of some sort. I slightly cringed at the thought, I never really liked lawyers, they just seem like a bunch of sly snakes with name brand suits and shiny polished dress shoes.

I wiped some droplets of sweat off of my forehead and I continued hammering a few nails into a pieces of drywall. I reached into a little pocket of my tool belt searching for my water bottle. My hand felt all around the little pocket but couldn't feel the bottle. I sighed heavily as I turned my head back to my work bench and my eyes lit up as I saw the water bottle, which seemed like the fountain of youth at this point. I hit the head of the nail with the hammer to fixate it into the wall. I put the hammer on my belt and practically sprinted to the work bench to grab the bottle. I chugged down the remaining bit of the liquid as I leaned against the bench. I crushed the bottle in my hand as I sighed contently, feeling a bit more refreshed than I did before. As I reached my hand down to grab the hammer from my belt again, I heard a box of nails drop onto the floor. My head shot up as I stumbled back a little bit in shock, "H-Hello?" I asked, shakily. No answer. I retrieved my hammer with a shaky hand, just in case something jumped out at me. I made very slow and precise steps in order to not make any noise.
The suspense was too much for me to handle as I jumped forward and looked around the corner. Nothing. No one. I breathed a sigh of relief, maybe it was just the wind or the box was on the edge of the work bench. I shook my head and turned around and felt my heart jump out of my chest as I saw my wife standing there. "Jesus, you scared the shit out of me." I chucked, as I made my way over to her. She had kind of a blank expression which I thought was odd, but put it into the back of my mind as I wrapped my arms around her waist. "What are you doing here?" I asked, smiling a bit, which she returned as soon as I did. "I just wanted to surprise you, I wanted to take you out to lunch." She said, loosely wrapping her arms around my shoulders. "Sure, lemme just clean myself up." I said, placing a soft kiss on her forehead and making my way over to the work bench. I unbuckled my tool belt and laid it over the edge of the bench. I grabbed another water bottle and splashed some water on my face, making sure to scrub off any dirt or grime that would be on my face. "What place did you have in mind for lunch?" I asked, grabbing a little towel and wiping my face. I didn't get a response, she probably didn't hear me, it can get kind of loud here. "Baby, where did yo--" I started, but as soon as I turned around I saw the shorter girl standing there with a gun on her hand; the end of the barrel pointed straight towards forehead. "W-Wha--" I tried to choke out, but she cut me off. "I'm sorry, but I can't do this anymore." She said, somewhat coldly. "What d-do you m-mean?" I stuttered as tears started to fall from my eyes. "Shut up! Don't you start crying! This is already hard for me!" She shouted at me as she started to tear up too. "I was gonna just leave you, but thought through how long and frustrating that would be for me, for the both of us." She said, a little calmer. Her once bright green-grey eyes that I loved so much, we're now dark and almost soulless. "We're not good for each other, I don't even know why I married you. I never even loved you." I physically ached after that sentence came out of her mouth, I was numb, I was broken. "Y-you don't ha--" I froze as my ears rung from the loud bang from the gun. I felt a piercing pain rip through my chest, but I couldn't figure out whether it was from the gunshot or from the words she had just previously said. I glanced at her and saw the gun drop from her shaky hand, I couldn't hear the gun hit the ground, I couldn't even hear anything except a loud ringing. Crimson red liquid seeped out of my plaid button up. Time almost seemed to slow down dramatically as it got even harder to breathe. I saw the blood dripping down onto the wood floor, but when I looked up, my beautiful wife's eyes had changed back to the bright green-grey color that I fell for. A small spur of happiness and hope shot through me, I always loved that green-grey color. Though they would start to disappear from my vision as my eyes started to close. My legs started to fail me as I wobbled back and fell out of the open space where a wall should've been. I thought I saw her running towards me, maybe to catch me? Or to see if there were any witnesses? I didn't know. I just closed my eyes and was flooded with images of bright green-grey eyes.
