I gripped onto her shoulders as she stared into the mirror. Our eyes met, the vanity lights shining on her bronzed skin.
"Come on babe. Let me help you." Beth stood up and walked over the hangers. She pulled out the long white dress, with the lace sewing and stared at me. I nodded, grinning brightly. She slowly removed her clothes and slipped into the dress. Her curled blonde tresses caressed her heart shaped face.
Her blue eyes twinkled at me.
I can't believe it. My little girl is getting married.
Jay
Ian, Pilar, and I sat on a bench near the beach. We all looked out at the waves, as they crashed and reclined, repeating the same process. Ian's golden boy hair, almost a replica of mine except straight whisped in the air.
Pilar's platinum Rapunzel hair was braided back. My kids were beautiful.
"Dad, where's Beth? She's taking ages." Pilar pulled out her phone, holding her hands as a viser over her eyes to block the sun. "The ceremony is going to start in 5 minutes, and she's going to be late to her own wedding."
"P, I know that you don't believe in that whole "us twins are totally opposites" bullcrap, but it's true. Honestly, when has our family ever been on time to anything? You were late to our own surprise birthday party." Pilar rolled her eyes, while I just sat there, chuckling.
"Pilar's right. We should leave soon." I groaned and sat up, beginning to walk to the parking lot while Pilar and Ian bickered behind me. We were walked over the speed bumps, to my old Jeep.
"I call shotgun!" Ian yelled loudly racing towards the car and popping open the passenger side door. Pilar groaned and picked up the side of her lilac satin dress, prancing towards the car while her heels clicked on the hot cement.
I popped open the door of the driver's side, and plugged in the keys while the car began beeping. Pulling out of the lot and onto the highway as we drove to the ceremony, in this weird spot in the center of Maui.
Beth
Mom helped me zip up the back of my dress, once finished I walked to the long full-length mirror and twirled.
"Oh! It fits like a glove." My mom exclaimed, placing her hands on my body, smoothing down any uneven ridges. "Baby I must ask you a few questions before we walk out." She took my hands and guided me to the antique sofa.
"Yea?" I exclaimed with slight annoyance. I just wanted to walk down that aisle already, meet the eyes of the love of my life and then just get out of here. I've been glued to Maui and California my whole entire life. I want something new.
"Have you told Dylan about the.. thing yet?" She raised her brow. I pursed my lips and looked around the room.
"No.." I moused under my breath while she sprung up, her hands on her hand as she groaned exasperatedly.
"Great. Fanfuckingtastic!-"
"Mom-"
"No. Beth, be honest with me. How long were you thinking that you were going to play along with this. Your about to get married for christ sake and he doesn't know that you already had an-"
"Mom! Stop! I'm telling him sooner or later. Please! Just give me time."
"I've given you lots of time, honey. This is on my shoulders too! Jay doesn't even know!"
"I know, mom. He'd freak out if he did. Look let's just go enjoy this and hope no one fucks it up."
My mom shook her head with a disappointed look of disgust on her face. I hate disappointing my mom. She went through so much for me. Ugh.
Pilar
As we drove down the highway, the glimmering ocean right beside us it gave me time to think. To think about what Beth told me. Like. How? How could she keep such a secret. And not tell anyone. Except mom of course. Figuring this out just so recently, makes me think of her totally differently. All those times she lied to me. She lied to everyone. She loves to feel like she is the perfect first born child and Ian and I are just the runts and mistakes but she's wrong.
I hate her. I hate her so much.
Dad pulled into the lot of the ceremony, parking between the fine lines They were all mostly taken up. We all opened the car doors and rushed inside. Dad and I were supposed to stay back while Ian met up with mom and walked to the first row of the aisles. Dad and I stood there with held hands. He was in a black suit, I helped him tie his tie.
As Dad and I talked for a bit, Beth came out of these grand double doors, followed by our Mom.
"Wow. My two babes look so gorgeous." Dad kissed Beth on the cheek, before she grimaced and then kissed mom.
Pilar looked at me up and down, before rolling her eyes.
"Seriously? You went to the beach? You look like a mess." She walked over and began picking at me and touching my hair. "You seriously have beach hair and you smell like a fish. You always have to ruin everything Pilar, Jesus."
I stood back. What's her issue?
"Sorry Princess. Not everyone can be as perfect as you. Oh, wait. Nevermind. Your not perfect. Girls who get pregnant at 15 by some old guy she doesn't know aren't perfect. Girls that hide the secret of there pregnancy by going on "vacation" aren't perfect. Girls that give there child away with the snap of their fingers instead of facing there problems aren't perfect. Beth. Your not fucking perfect! Stop acting like your better than everyone else! You treat everyone like complete shit when really your probably the worst person on the face of the earth." Oh shit.
Beth stared at me, her blue eyes beginning to fume. My mom stood there taken back while my dad just furrowed his brows.
"Wow. You've really reached a new low."
I scoffed. "Have you even told Dylan yet? You don't deserve him. You told Dylan your pure. Your a liar."
"Pilar. I can't even believe you."
