My eyes scoured the request board, looking for a quest of my liking. My dumb 'low wizard' class was keeping me from any fun quests. All of them are chores. I sigh.
When I finally graduate from this dumb magic school, I will get out of 'low wizard', and up to graduated wizard. But graduation
isn't until next year, when I'm ten. For now, I just have to work hard to be the best wizard ever!
"Silver! Pick a job already! I want to earn jewel!" My sister whines.
"Fine, just stop yelling." I looked around to see fellow students staring at us. I glared back at them.
The atmosphere thickened, making way for my sister, Nomi, and her best friend (slash arch rival) Layla. They've been inseparable since they were young, and have always been on par. They're grades, they're magic, even their height and birthdays are the same. They are now both S-class wizards, and almost the strongest except for, of course, Aunt Erza. Who, despite being in her fifty's, looks and acts half her age.
"C'mon, Nomi! Fight me! I'll beat you this time for sure!" Layla shouted.
"I would love nothing less than to shatter your face into pieces, but for now, we can not."
"Why not!?"
"We are in the presence of little ones, and you may not care, but I do not want to set a bad example." My sister walked up to me. "Have you picked a mission yet, Silver?"
I shook my head. "No. The missions here are all boring. Just the stuff people don't want to do."
"Well, hurry up. I do not want to waste a second more with something so simple as chores."
"Heh. Rhymes."
"Shut up, Layla."
Soleil raised her hand." Can we go on a mission with you?"
Nomi sighed. "No, Sol, we talked about this. Your too young to go on a mission with us."
Sol pouted." But I want too. It seems like so much fun."
Layla elbowed Nomi playfully. "You remember our first real quest? It was with dad. He let us go on a quest with him early. We ended up getting lost, and dad look through the whole place looking for us! Mom was so mad when we got home."
"Yes, Layla. I remember. In fact, I was there. But we can not do the same. We would have gotten beaten up had we not wandered."
"Killjoy."
"Rule Breaker."
"Guys." I stopped them before they got into a fight. "I think this one's good." I pointed to a random quest.
"You want to do that one?" Sol asked.
"Yeah, what-" I turned around and looked at the request. It was some all-day request were you have to yell 'get of the lawn' to neighbourhood kids who are trespassing. It ended at 9:30. It was 3:00. "I change my mind."
Nomi grinned. "No, you picked that one. That is what you get. I will drop you off at the location, and Layla and I will be going on a mission with Shiro."
"But I don't want to go on that boring mission, I want to go with you! I want to go on a real mission." Sol whined.
"Sorry, Sol. But your brother picked that one, therefore, you will go on that one." Nomi looked like she wanted to change her mind, but she would never break the rules.
"Thanks a lot, Silver." My little sister grumbled.
I sighed. "Believe me, I want to do this as much as you do."
"So why did you pick it?"
"I just didn't want a full-blown war to break out in my school. You know how Nomi and Layla get."
"True." And just like that she forgot her anger and started to closely follow Nomi. That girl can be kind of bipolar. I shook my head.

We sat in the back of the carriage. Sol tapped my shoulder.
"What?" I asked.
She waved her hands in front of her face frantically.
"What?" I whisper.
She motioned me to come closer. "I have a plan."
"What is it?"
She told me, and as her plan unraveled, I began to get more and more excited. "Sure it's going to work?"
She nodded.
___
When we arrived at the house, Nomi dropped us off and drove to Shiro's house. Except they dropped off clones of us. One of the perks of being first in water magic class.
"I bet you're excited to see him!" Layla bounced up and down.
"Don't over react. It is not what you think it is." Nomi said in her usual calm manner. But from my place in her bag, I could see a hint of blush. That's unusual. My sister never blushes.
"It is, it totally is! You're in love with Shiro! Shiro and Nomi sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
"Stop it."
"First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby-"
"Don't you dare finish that."
"-Carriage."
My sister punched Layla hard in the face, causing it to swell.
"Oh, yeah. Now we're talking." Layla smiled, stretching her arm.
"Hey, no fighting in my carriage or you pay extra!" The driver yelled.
"Humph." Layla crossed her arms and faced the window. "I can barely pay for this trip, so I'm just gonna fight you when we get to Shiro's house. "
"Fine." Nomi sighed and also faced her window.
                                                                                       ___
The rest of the ride was quiet, so Sol and I were just waiting patiently in my sister's bag. We finally got to Shiro and Rosemary's house.
Nomi got out of the carriage and lifted her bag. "Hey, Layla. I think my bag is heavier than usual." I held my breath as I watched Layla look like she was thinking it over.
"It's just you." She concluded. She walked up to my sister, and punched her in the jaw. I winced at the probably painful shot.
Nomi rubbed her jaw. "What was that for!?"
"You promised me a fight. Dragon Slayer Iron Fist!" Her fist was on fire as she punched Nomi again.
"Ice Make Hammer!" Nomi put down her bag, thankfully, and rushed towards Layla.
They exploded in a ball of fire and ice, not one stronger that the other.
"This could take a while, Sol" I whispered to her.
"Ha! I win!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.
"Shhhh!" Nomi and Layla were to busy fighting to notice our ruckus, but that was still a close call. I forgot I said we were playing the quiet game, which is the only way to shut my sister up.
"I still win." She whispered.
"Let's play again."
"Okay. Three, two, one." She put her hand over her mouth to keep from talking again.
"Hey, Popsicle Breath! Is that the best you can do?" Oh, great. Now they're name calling.
"Your nicknames are inferior. You have not seen a fraction of my power, imbecile."
"Dragon Slayer-"
"Ice Make-"
"Enough! Requip: Armadura Fairy!" Shiro came and changed into one of his most powerful armours. He put his sword in the way of the two girls, stopping their fighting. Shiro was not an S-class wizard like Nomi and Layla, but if he participated in the exam, he would most likely be able to become one. His skills were probably just a little bit less, if not the same, as the girls.
"Pft. Show off." Layla rolled her eyes.
"I should have known I would find you fighting. I guess I lost my bet with my sister." Shiro sighed. "There goes ten jewel."
"You bet for us?" Nomi blushed, looking down. Wow. She's actually showing her emotions. She usually hides them. Must be a genetic trait.
"Yeah, you bet for us? That was a dumb move." Layla scoffed.
"Yeah, well I thought I could count on my friends."
"I am sorry, Shiro. I really am. I will repay your loss." Nomi was tearing up.
"It's fine. It's only ten jewel. I'll earn more on this mission anyway." Shiro shrugged it off.
"Okay, let's get to the quest already! Um.. What's the quest again?" Layla asked.
"You already forgot? Sometimes I can not understand your low attention span. We are only going to defeat some monsters. It should not be to hard."
"Oh, yeah." Layla walked into the carriage, Shiro and Nomi (with us) quickly following.
"So, Layla. Why aren't you sick? You usually can't stand being in vehicles." Shiro questioned.
"Oh, Wendy gave me this super strong spell so I'm good until I get back from this mission." She smiled widely, obviously happy to be rid of her motion sickness.
Shiro nodded in understanding.
"So I believe that we are ridding the costumer of some beasts that are damaging her property, correct?" Nomi asked.
"Yeah, something about them ruining her prize-winning garden." Shiro said.
"Who cares?! I just wanna beat the crap out of something!" Layla the threw her fist into her palm.
"She said a bad word! Layla said a bad word!" Sol shouted. Then she covered her mouth. "Oops."
Nomi opened her bag, revealing us.
"How did you get here!? You were supposed to yell at kids or something!" Layla yelled, more surprised than angry.
"You insolent fools! You were supposed to wait for us!" Nomi's body began to turn to ice, something she only does when extremely stressed.
"Do you want to do that boring mission? We're at the top of the class in school. We can handle something more than chores!" I wanted to finally finish with this. I was better than chores.
"You don't understand the level of difficulty this is. This is too tough for you!"
"We can handle it." Sol whispered. She never disagreed with Nomi. Her entire life she looked up to Nomi, shadowing her. But not now.
Nomi paused, shock her little shadow stopped following her. "Fine. But you must be prepared for this. I do not want to go to your rescue, nor do I want to be held back because of your foolish mistake."
"Nomi, are you sure that isn't to harsh?" Shiro had a look of concern on his face.
She nodded. "They say they are ready. Now they must prove it."
                                                                                       ___
They arrived at the house, a humble house on the outskirts of Magnolia. I can't say the same for the house owner.
The house owner was an old lady well past her prime. Since she couldn't participate in much else at her age, she's fine tuned her gardening skills for the sake of competition.
"Finally! It took you long enough. Those nasty creatures have been at my garden for weeks! I plant a seed, but when I turn around, they eat it!" The old lady humphed and plopped down on her floral couch.
"Hey, Nomi. I think this lady has a screw loose or something." Layla 'whispered'.
"Hey, girl! I may be old, but I can hear you, nitwit!" The old lady growled.
"Oh, yeah! Well you want to fight me?!"
"Have you forgotten she is elderly? Do not pic a fight with those who can not win." Nomi hissed.
Layla glared at the lady.
"Oh, but she's right dear, you can't harm a little old innocent lady like me." She said, suddenly acting all sweet. She gave a smug smile.
"Yeah whatever. I'm just gonna finish this mission and be over with." Layla rolled her eyes, stretching her arms behind her back in a casual way. But her face showed a look of displeasure.
"Would you look at that. It seems she does have a sense of discipline."
"Shut up, Popsicle."
"Nonsensical lunatic." Nomi smirked at the confused expression that Layla made.
"Come on, children. Get the job done before I die, here." The lady said, tapping her wrist.
Layla muttered as she followed her companions to the back of the house, still pondering if the word was an insult. I shook my head at her density.
"So this is where the supposed monsters are." Nomi stopped in the middle of the yard, looking around at the mess. Overturned chairs, uprooted plants, and even a broken garden gnome.
Layla scoffed. "Well it certainly looks like a hurricane swept through here."
"It looks like the monsters avoided the house." Shiro spoke after being quiet this whole time.
"Why?" Sol asked.
"I don't know. But there must be some reason."
"Hsssssssss" I heard a sound. I spun around on my heel, facing whatever was behind me.
A huge shadowy figure was inches away, it's cool breath brushing my face. If I had gum, I would have swallowed it.
"Ahh!" I punched the thing, which probably annoyed it more than injured it.
"Hss!" It attacked me so quickly I was barely able to dodge it.
I turned my body into water, the snake bursting through.  Close call.
"Oh yeah, now I'm fired up!" Layla yelled, hand already ignited. "Fire Dragon Iron Fist!"
She ran straight at the snake, punching it as hard she could, which was pretty hard. The snake evaded it and twisted around, holding her in a tight hold.
She tsked. "Is that the best you can do? To easy!" She burst through the snake, breaking the snake in half.
The snake lay on the floor, half of it exploded.
Layla dusted herself off. "And that's how it's done."
"Wow! That was so cool! How did you do that? You're so awesome!" Sol exclaimed.
Layla boasted to Sol as she was praised a dozen compliments a second.
The snake started regenerating its body, rebuilding itself back to its original form.
"Layla, behind you!" Nomi shouted.
Layla turned around as the snake dived right for her.
"Oh, no you don't!" She punched and slashed at the snake, to no avail.
"This snake! It must be dark magic!" Nomi shouted as she, too had no luck.
I think back to my classes, remembering
