For nine months Barry Allen was in a coma, and most of that time was spent under the watchful eye of what was left of the S.T.A.R Labs team. One morning months after I had been released, I walked toward the Cortex and heard music blaring. Cisco and Caitlin were busy doing science things when I entered the room.
"Hey smart guys." I greeted with a smile.
Cisco turned to me and his broad, childlike grin "Sybie!"
I handed him a cup of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows and turned to give Caitlin her cup of hot tea. Caitlin, took the drink but didn't look at me. These days she was understandably distant, and upset. Her fiance was one of the victims of the Particle Accelerator explosion, Ronnie Raymond, he was the engineer on the project.
"So my best buddy, what's with music?" I asked as I lifted myself onto a nearby stool.
"Trying to see if it'll wake Sleeping Beauty up." Cisco explained, going back to work.
"So you decided to play Lady Gaga?" I asked playfully.
"He likes this song!" Cisco defended Caitlin leaned over Barry.
"How could you possibly know that?" Caitlin inquired, incredulously.
"It was on his Facebook page." Cisco explained and then went on to ask "He can hear us can't he?"
"Auditory functions are the last sensory faculty degenerate." Caitlin said, as she walked towards a piece of equipment. Cisco and I started humming along to the song. Suddenly Barry Allen sat up in a panic, and asked "Where am I?"
"Whoa my god!" Cisco said clutching his heart.
"He's up." Caitlin announced.
I hopped down from my stool and grabbed a mic and said "Harrison get down to the Cortex, right now."
I walked over to the bed where Cisco and Caitlin were standing over Barry, Caitlin doing doctor things as Cisco tried to calm with his best hippie impression.
"S.T.A.R Labs. Who are?" Barry asked
"I'm Cisco Ramon. This is Sybil." I waved. "That's Caitlin. Dr. Snow." Cisco introduced with an eye roll at the end. Caitlin practically shoved a glass vial into Barry's face and said "I need you to urinate this."
"Not right this second." I said gently, taking them from her grasp. The situation was too tense for comfort.
"What is happening? What is going on ?" Barry said walking away from the bed. Understandable confusion on his face."You were struck by lightning, dude." said Cisco with obvious excitement. Barry looked into a screen which was linked to a camera recording at a downward angle, even more confused and questioned cutely "Lightning gave me abs?"
I laughed at his confused and impressed tone. Caitlin rushed to explain the situation.
"Your muscles should be a atrophied but instead they're in a chronic state of cellular regeneration." She said. Cisco took Barry's shoulders and drew Barry backwards. "Come here. Have a seat." Cisco insisted, sitting Barry down.
"You were in a coma." I said with an easy tone, crouching down so I'd be eye level with him. His eyes were scared, and curious-they demanded answers in the sweetest possible way."A coma? For how long?" Barry asked, panicked.
A voice boomed from behind me and replied "For nine months."
Barry's eyes widened with awe and recognition when saw Dr. Harrison Wells. Harrison had parked his chair in the doorway and was still a looming presence.
"Welcome back Mr. Allen. We have a lot to discuss." Harrison greeted with a smile. Caitlin went to grabbed Barry a T-shirt and a sweatshirt then Harrison and Barry left the Cortex together. After they left I looked at Cisco and said "That was fun."
He laughed.
