Another day in that boring cafe getting the same boring drink in the same boring town in the same boring Texas. This is how it has been every day for the past year. Ever since you moved here, it was always this way. The only perk was that one not boring face you saw in that cafe every morning. He had some weird shades, but you suppose they were pretty cool. His hair was a stunning blonde and he always had a handsome smile on his face.

Well... Whenever he's with his boyfriend... They were both rather handsome, and they seemed like a good pair. They always seemed to watch out for each other and fawn over each other. Some days you'd see the blonde alone and you always wished you had the courage to go over and talk to him, but other days his boyfriend would be there and you would feel your heart ache as you never even dared to look up at him. Sometimes you thought he was noticing the way that would always happen, but you couldn't be for sure with the way those dark shades masked his eyes.

Today, the 378th day you went to that cafe. the 378th you got that same drink, the 378th day you saw that boy, he saw you. That 378th day, you learned his name. Dirk Strider. About a year older than you. Single.

He had walked in a little later than you and sat alone. His head was down and his hands were shaking a bit. It was cold outside, but not cold enough to make someone shake like this. If he hadn't looked up at you for a brief moment, you wouldn't have seen that one tear rolling down his cheek.

In that moment you stood up, bought a hot cocoa, sat down at his table and slid it towards him.

"You look like you could use something warm and sweet."

".....Thank you."

He grabbed the drink and slowly drank it. He then took off his shades and rubbed away some tears, leaving them on the table. His eyes seemed to be full of pain, but you knew that wasn't exactly it. There was something more or less to it.

"He broke up with you... Didn't he..."

He slowly nodded and wiped away another tear before clearing his throat and straightening up a bit.

"Yeah... Jake and I are through... I, uh... I'm Dirk. Dirk Strider."

"_____."

"It's nice to meet you... I see you here a lot..."

"Every day for over a year."

"Heh... Yeah, I've noticed... You always come in here and get the same drink. Heh... Don't think I don't notice you around here."

"I-I.... I..."

"I'm sorry about that."

"Huh?"

"Ya know... Staring at ya sometimes..."

"O-oh... That's what y-you meant..."

"Yeah... What did you think I meant?"

"Th-that... That's what I thought you meant."

He raised an eyebrow at you and then started to smile at you. You couldn't help but smile knowing you had helped him feel better. The two of you talked on for a while and he told you about his brother, Dave, and the house he lived in. He went on and on about he wants to be like his bro. He had a thing for irony like it was some sort of religion, but it made you smile to hear about it. He told you about his website and the games he liked to play.

Finally, came the subject of his boyfriend. Jake English. As it turned out, it wasn't the perfect relationship you thought it was. They seemed to always have problems. Yeah, they really did have feelings for each other, but there were just so many conflicts of their personalities and interests. Apparently, the whole relationship was really pressuring,

After he poured out his feelings and interests on you, it was your turn. Being who you are, you were still flustered and nervous. You did like some of the videos games as him, and you suppose that maybe he'd be interested in all your interests.

After a moment of talking about videos and stuttering through it all, he finally convinced you to open up about all your interests. If you weren't so lost in thought, you might have noticed the way he stared at you.
