A Little Sick

After having talked for a while, the two of you exchanged numbers and you went on home. You started to not feel so well, so you laid down. You were just about to fall asleep when Dirk texted you.

'Yo, what up?'

'Hey sorry, I'm not feeling so well.'

'You good? You're not alone, are ya?'

'Yeah, I live alone. But I'm good.'

'Wya?'

'What does that mean?'

'Where you at?'

'That one weird blue apartment building, top floor. Why?'

'Got it.'

'What? Got what?'

.......

'Dirk?

.......

'Okay then, see ya.'

You set your phone down and tried to sleep, but you started getting chills. You got into your pajamas. Then you went into the kitchen and got a glass of warm milk. After taking a few sips, you heard a knock at the door. You opened it to find Dirk with a bag full of god knows what.

"Hey, uh... It's nice to see you, but I really don't feel good."

"I know, that's why I'm here. I brought some shit for us to do."

"Well... Then come in I guess..."

Without hesitation he walked in, closed and locked the door behind him, and sat on the floor by the couch. You grabbed your milk and sat on the couch, pulling a blanket over yourself. You sat there awkwardly for a moment until he turned towards you and spoke up.

"Do you have a temp?"

"I haven't checked yet."

He put his hand on your forehead for a few seconds longer than the norm. It was fairly easy to tell he was not experienced in this sort of thing.

"Yeah... You've definitely got a temp."

"Dirk, you shouldn't stay here. You'll get sick."

"I don't get sick. You shouldn't be alone when you're sick."

"I'll be fine, I ju-"

"Shush."

"But I-"

"Just shush. Besides, I've got nothing to do. This gives me something good to focus on."

You sighed a little as your shoulders fell and nodded. There was no point in arguing with him. You were too tired anyways, it just wasn't worth it to start anything. Besides, it was kind of nice to have the company and care. It was like having a caretaker or nanny or something like that for free.

He turned on a movie and leaned against the couch. The movie wasn't too bad. It was from the show XXXholic. And the childish part of you had to admit; those little rabbit like things are so cute. Dirk sure seemed to like it, he rarely looked away except to make sure you were all good. Maybe he did. Those shades hide his eyes pretty well.

"Hey Dirk?"

"Yeah, what's up?"

"...Why are you here?"

"What do you mean why am I here? You're sick."

"No, I mean... Why are you here taking care of me? We met and talked for the first time today. You know nothing about me besides what I have told you about and that was just first impressions. How do you know I'm not some creep that is just trying to lure you in here so I can hold you hostage or kill you?"

He smirked and even chuckled a little, but tried to hide it. You raised an eyebrow and waited for an answer. He only seemed to smile wider at the look you gave him.

"First of all, I know you aren't a murderer or a creep. Believe me, I'd be able to tell. Secondly, you couldn't kidnap me or kill me of you tried. I am way stronger than you. Thi-"

"What? I could totally do so. Just not now because I'm sick."

"You could not." He chuckled a little and you couldn't help but smile back.

"I could so. I'm a lot stronger than you think."

"Oh is that so? I'd like to see you try."

"You're so on you little s-" You got cut off from a sudden chill and wrapped the blanket around yourself tighter.

"You alright? Maybe you should sleep."

"No no, I'm just fine."

"Nope. Bed. Now."

You sighed again, but this time with a smile. He stood up with you and followed you into your room, making sure you were all tucked in and warm enough.

"I'll be out on the couch if you need anything, alright?"

"Alright. Good night, Dirk."

"Night."

He turned off the light and left the room. You smiled just a little and closed your eyes, soon falling into a deep, deep sleep.
