Meredith was very happy to be at the hospital this very day because it was said that today they might pick a new chief of surgery. She was really hoping Derek got it. To be honest Meredith had quite the crush on Derek but she was sure that he never even notices her. Then again Derek was probably the best surgeon she had ever meet in her entire lifetime, not including her mother of course, and he didn't have time to remember who she is. When Meredith came into the hospital this morning she couldn't help but notice that Derek was acting quite strange, so she decided to follow him into the elevator to make sure he was alright.
When in the elevator it seemed to take Derek a couple seconds to realize she was there. Once he turned to her, she couldn't help but think he was mad at her. But that couldn't be! She hadn't done anything wrong, except pant a little because she had to run to catch up to him.... Once the doors opened Derek ran out and yelled at her "BYE DON'T FOLLOW ME!" "Hum that was strange" Meredith thought as she continued to go up a floor in the elevator.
As she went to get off she saw her best friend Cristina and waved. As she walked towards her, she noticed that she was already holding a patient's information. "Wow" Meredith thought "Cristina has already beat me to a patient' info and is probably working with Derek too! I should've came into work sooner." This was always the hardest thing Meredith had to deal with, other interns taking the patients she should have so she can work with Derek.When Meredith was next to her, she casually asked her what she was hold which was very smart because this way Meredith knew if she had to steal the chart later on. Cristina went on to tell her that she had grabbed a patient that was with Burke. Meredith gave a sigh of relief. Meredith forgot that Cristina and Burke are "secretly dating". It wasn't very secretive because everyone on God's green earth knew about it. But anywho Meredith was very excited that Cristina didn't have Derek. Knowing Derek and how he is he would swoon her over and then Meredith would have to compete against her best friend for his love. After that problem was resolved she felt like was walking on air. Not only would Meredith get to be with Derek she would be able to show him how perfect they would be as a couple. Cristina interrupted her train of thoughts by asking her if she was planning on scrubbing in on a surgery today.
Meredith didn't responded and she walked out of the hall and saw Burke lying on the ground with Derek hovered over him with a scalpel and his face cut off then when Derek turns to face Meredith, Burke's face is being worn like a mask on Derek's face. "AHH" Meredith screamed. She realized she was still standing in front of Cristina and none of that actually happened. "That was weird" Meredith thought "I have never had a daydream before." Cristina asked her again, completely ignoring the fact that she just screamed into her face, "are you planning on scrubbing in on a surgery today?" "Well I don't know, I might if Derek lets me" said Meredith. Meredith then proceeded to tell Cristina how weird Derek has been acting today. "Maybe he's just nervous about the new chief being picked. You know how much he wants this." continued Meredith. Cristina interrupted her "What?!?! Derek thinks he's going to be chief!" she said with a cynical smile on her face and she said it with a voice that made Meredith's toes curl "We all know that Burke is going to be chief." Then Cristina said in an oddly cheerful voice "Well all's fair in love and war!" Then she skipped away.
"Well that was odd" Meredith thought. And continued to walk towards the patients charts. Once at the charts she saw the one with Derek's name on it and quickly grabbed it. "I hope I can get my hands on Derek.......I mean ummm.....Derek's case" she said to no one because she doesn't really have any friends and everyone thinks she smells really bad. Once she got the papers she walked into the elevator and noticed Derek was in there too. She raised her hand to wave and dropped all of the papers she was holding. "How embarrassing!!!!" Meredith thought as she felt her face going red. She heard Derek scream something at her but she couldn't figure out what he said because she was too focused on picking up the papers she had dropped. Once Meredith picked up all the papers she had dropped the elevator doors opened and Derek got out. Meredith remembered she was on his service today and ran out of the elevator to catch him. Cristina was waiting for her outside the elevator. Meredith said "Hi" Cristina said "Hi" back and they followed Derek until he suddenly stopped. Meredith walked in front of Derek, who seemed to be out of it. Derek came to and yelled "WHAT?!?" at Meredith and she quietly responded "Shouldn't we be getting to the patients?" Derek said back to her "Don't tell me what to do" and then promptly screamed "Okay onto rounds" right into Meredith face. Meredith then proceeded to follow him creepily.
