Ch.3

Today is my first day starting my new job and Im excited. I'll admit I'm a little nervous but not so bad like the day that I had the interview. I knew two people there already and that's what gave me a little peace of mind!
Finding out that Alex is a married man was a huge disappointment. He's and attractive man and has a great sense of humor and I was looking forward to maybe being able to have something with him but I'm not a home wrecker. I respect him and his marriage and the fact that he's a taken man. But I still hope we can be friends!

Cus shit I need friends!

But when I arrived to the store there was no Isaiah and no Alex to be found.
So much for not being nervous!
Instead there was a different LP by the door. Timothy. He was tall a little on the heavy side. He was tan, his hair was slicked back but you could tell that his hair was curly. And he was wearing his LP uniform. Charcoal grey collard shirt and on the right side over his chest it had the store's logo and under it in white sown letters it said Loss Prevention Officer completed with black Dickie pants and some black tennis shoes.
Pretty ghetto uniform for an LP! But wtv!

"Hi I'm Naya it's my first day here do i go to the back or do I wait here?" I asked.

"Oh yea you can just walk to the back and Lorraine the store manager will tell you what to do." He seemed nice.

I honestly was VERY nervous to meet her, on the day of the interview she was very serious, but I hope that was just because she was into her work.
I walked into the back. I'll admit I walked in a little scared. To my left was the office and Lorraine was sitting by her desk busy typing her little life away! Lorraine was about 5"3 maybe 5"4, dark skinned, straight black shoulder length hair, she has HUGE boobs and she's thick. Lorraine's vibe is authoritative, which it should be, she's the store manager.
I knocked before I entered the office.
Don't see why stupid! You were already in the stock room!
I wanted to make myself present. I know I was an employee but I didn't feel privileged yet. So I was respecting what I have yet to earn.

She turned around and she looked as scary as her vibe.

"Hi you must be..Na..ya? Right?"
My name isn't that hard to pronounce people!!
I simply smiled and greeted her back.

"Hi yes I'm Naya. Timothy said I could come over to the back." I said a little nervous. I wasn't uncomfortable around Lorraine. She made me very nervous.

"Yes that's fine. You're suppose to clock in at 3pm right?" She said.

"Yes I'm supposed to come in at 3pm." I looked at the time and it was exactly 3pm.

"Ok, let's clock you in. Your employee number will be 13634, remember it because you will need to use it to clock in and out. You will come to the computer and click on employee portal and this page should pop up, punch in your number, press ok, and log out.
      Ok, now follow me to the floor."
This little human being was Bossy, but I did as I was told and I followed. God the last time I had a long number to remember was back in high school. I can do this, I will do this.

"The floor is broken down into sections, there is Men's, Kids, and Women's. Right now we are going down to the Men's section and you will be working with Veronica." 

We walked down to the front of the store where the Men's section began. It's very difficult to describe how it's all broken down but it all starts with High End, then Skate, then Vans & Convers. Vans roll over to the next isle and that where Men's Section ends.
     Then the Kids section begins at Men's Boots, then Infants, Youth. Half of Youth's section started off the Women's section which contained women's tennis shoes, flats, sandals, and heels.
    Women's section was the only section that wasn't broken down. Thank god! I was thrown too much information my way and as fast as it came it went.  I have no idea what I was just told.

   "This is Veronica you will work with her and then I will come and check to see how you guys are doing." Lorraine gave me a smile and left.

High End was a mess. There were boxes of shoes all over the floor and Veronica was up in a step stool bringing down more Nike shoes. I was frightened.

    "Hi I'm Veronica!" She had her hand extended out and the other one was balancing a stack of shoe boxes.

   "Hi I'm Naya. Do you need help? What exactly is that your doing?" I asked as I took the stack of boxes out of her way.

    "I am what we call Down Stocking. We clean up a section. You can help me out by handing me the styles that I point to and make sure the sizes are from smallest to biggest. As we work on that I'll break it down to you and tell you what Down Stocking is." Veronica was very serious.

   We spent two hours down stocking High End. Which basically what we do is clean it up. On the lower part we keep full stiles and on the top part the broken styles and the super broken ones get sent to the clearance wall.
     For example:
Nike Air Max 1. We get up to thirteen shoe sizes for men and as long as we have a full style it stays displayed in the bottom shelf. As the style starts selling out sizes start running out. As long as there are EIGHT pairs or more it stays in the bottom. When a shoe style has SEVEN or less it gets displayed in the top shelf to make room for the new shoe stiles coming in. The more broken down shoes are the styles that have FOUR or less pairs of shoes AND they have to be marked at the sale price of $34.99 or less to be placed on the clearance wall.

    That's what I spent doing for TWO FUCKEN HOURS!!! Lorraine showed up just when we finished down stocking high end. Veronica's shift was over and now it was my turn to take over Men's Section.

"You guys did good. Did you get the concept of down stocking?" Lorraine asked.
    "Uhm it was a lot of information to take in. It's kinda confusing." I told her the truth. Veronica's explanation of down stocking was confusing.

"It's alright it's your first day you'll get use to it. So tonight you will be uncharged of Men's Section, you will keep up with the sections, keep the floors clean, the isles lined up, make sure that at the end of your shift there's a shoe out displayed. And you get the men's section of the clearance wall as well. If you have any questions we are all here to help." Lorraine left me and went on to cashier.

   This was a lot to take in but I was full with energy. And I was ready to work. In my evening shift I met two other people, Cynthia, which I came to learn that she as well was new here, she was about to complete three months here. And a sweet girl named Sloan. She was very kind to me.
    Cynthia was a bit of a bitch. Full of herself. But they both keep gossiping about some guy named Rob. How he's one to flirt with every girl. Rob the player. Even the LP Timothy warned about him.
     I guess I'd just have to wait and find out until I meet him.
