I felt kind of bad because I had just spoken with Isaac and he was going to try to go talk to Allison but at the same time if Isaac needed me to tell him how to fix his relationship maybe he didn’t deserve it right then. Plus, Allison sounded extremely upset and I wasn’t just going to say no to her, I loved her, I could never just say no, especially when I had missed her so much.

I had gotten on my motorcycle as soon as she told me to meet her where we used to always meet. I knew that if she was reaching out to me after a month of no communication then it must be important. I was just worried that Isaac had hurt her. ‘I swear if he if hurt her I’ll-‘ I stopped thinking when I realized that I was there. I couldn’t see Allison but she had to be close by. I stepped off of my motorcycle, setting my helmet down and looking around. “Allison?” I asked softly.

I heard a leave snap behind me and then turned to see her walking towards me. She was looking down at her feet and I could tell by the look on her face that she was upset. It looked like she had been crying for a while before then.

“Hey…” I said, taking a breath. What else was I supposed to say after our last conversation?

“Hey.” She replied softly.

“Are you okay? Isaac told what happened.” She needed to know that so that she didn’t have to tell the whole story again, I didn’t want her to feel worse.

“Yeah… Did he tell you about how he cussed me out calling me things I don’t even think I know of. I don’t know what happened Scott. I don’t want him to be mad at me or hurt by me! I didn’t mean to hurt him… I thought it would be okay, I was just looking at the picture I didn’t think it was a big deal and he- I just-” Allison said weakly and I could hear her voice cracking, I knew that she was already crying which scared me. I was starting to believe that he actually did hurt her. I couldn’t tell if she was bruised or not because it was dark outside. What did he do to her?

“Did he hurt you?” I clenched my fists and my jaw hoping that Allison couldn’t see how angry I was.

She shook her head at me and then looked down and started to cry even harder.

“Don’t lie to me, if he hurt you I-“

“He didn’t h-hurt me.” She stated.

“Then why are you crying?!” I didn’t mean to yell or sound upset but I was just so upset, everything she was doing made it seem like Isaac hit her. After the dream that I had, I was always paranoid about that happening. Isaac was bound to hurt her sooner or later.

“Scott I couldn’t do it!” She began to bawl, it was like she hit a complete low point. “When you came to my house that night I told you that you needed to let me go and that I knew you could. I basically gave you an invitation to get out.” She didn’t have to recreate that night again. “I only did it because I knew that you were stronger than me. I knew that you would be able to move on even if I couldn’t. Scott I knew that you would make this easier on me… I know how selfish it sounds. I didn’t want it to end up this way… Did you really believe me though Scott? Did you think that it wouldn’t be hard for me?” I actually did yeah, “That I could just let you go after everything we have been through? You thought that it wasn’t the hardest thing I have ever done in my entire life? That I could just pretend that nothing happened? I went outside after you left that night Scott, I got your letter and I saw what you wrote on my window. Did you think I just threw the notes away and pretended that I never saw them? I read the note and I couldn’t take it anymore… I couldn’t pretend anymore! I had to keep it to keep it every day as I reminder to stay strong, to-“She began to cry a bit more, “To make sure I didn’t come running right back to you when I was still in love with Isaac. That’s why I didn’t talk to you at all Scott I knew that just hearing your voice, just seeing your smile… I would have changed my mind and he- I DIDN’T WANT THIS. I DIDN’T WANT TO HAVE TO CHOOSE!“ She managed to yell out.

I pulled Allison tightly into my arms and ran my hands through her hair and she kept her arms around my waist. “I know.” I whispered into her hair, “I know.” A tear ran down my cheek. Although Allison was having trouble talking, I knew exactly what she was trying to tell me. I knew that she was in love with Isaac and I knew that she was in love with me and she hated herself for hurting us. “You don’t have to…” Allison pulled her head away from my chest and she had a confused look on her face.

“What?”

“You don’t have to feel like you’re hurting one of us while helping the other. I listened to what you said that night Allison and I tell myself every single day that all of what I am doing is for you, because it is. I know how happy he makes you, how much happier he makes you than I did.” I looked down at my hands, ”I know that he is what is best for you and you don’t have to choose. There is no choice; there is just your present and your future. I promise you that he will be better to you from now on and we can still be friends…” What the hell was I doing?

“Scott…” She whispered.

I looked down into those perfect eyes and was instantly in a trance, I couldn’t even reply because I was so distracted. It was like she could look right through me. Allison didn’t buy what I was saying, she knew that all I really wanted was to be with her but at the same time, and I was being truthful. Isaac makes Allison happier than I ever did which means he is the right one for her. Allison just shook her head and we both leaned in slowly. My eyes hut tightly and I could feel the heat from her lips centimeters from mine. I grazed my lips across hers when there was a loud snap in the woods behind us. I yanked my head back and looked around.

“Scott what’s wrong?”

“I just heard something that’s all. It’s probably nothing. Stay here and if you hear something get in the car and go.”

“But what about y-“

My claws came out and I showed her, shrugging, “I think I’ll be okay.”

As I walked through the woods I growled, this better be important…” I almost kissed Allison for god’s sake. Everything was quiet and I was hoping that it was just a squirrel or something but with all of the killing lately, I didn’t want to take the chance. That’s when I heard something behind me, I slowed down but continued on pretending that I didn’t hear it. If they tried to hurt me, I would be ready to attack right away. A hand grabbed my shoulder and I turned around digging my claws right into whatever it was. I watched as the black figure (it was too dark to see) dropped down to the ground yelling out in pain. Wait a minute; I knew whose voice that was is.

“Allison…” I whispered.
