Luke Hemmings

I sat there while everyone else scattered out the classroom to leave this rotten place of education they call school.

The fire alarms went off throughout every classroom. I didn't move. I sat there waiting as if I were to be saved. But as always, I was alone. I got up carefully and walked out to the crowded hallways full of horny sweaty teenagers wanting freedom from this hell hole.

I shoved my way through, earing slaps and shoves everywhere.

"LUKE," someone shouted.

I turned to look back but nothing was there. All the sweaty teens were gone.
They all left once they heard the intercom stating that all students were free to leave and calls would be sent home.

I pushed open the heavy metal school doors walking towards the gate only to be greeted by a cold gust of wind. I held my hoodie closet to me.

I sped down the familiar sidewalk where I was soon met with my home, sweet, home.

-scratch that.

You can hear my parents yelling on my dead lawn as you walk by.

I took out my keys and unlocked the door carefully.

Just as the door creaked the yelling stopped. All the noise stopped. The wind, the yelling, nothing but the cheap commercial running on the TV.

"Hi honey, how was school" my mother said trying to pull an act as if nothing happend.

I looked over at my dad. He looked angry. If looks could kill, bye bye mommy. He was starring daggers into her soul.

"The same" I responded.

I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle and chips.

I ran upstairs to my room dropping my backpack off. I snatched my blanket from my bed and ran off to the attic.

The attic used to be my brothers room, before he left to college.

Now he won't even look me in the eye without saying that I ruined mom and dad's relationship.

I laid down on the ice cold floor and draped the blanket over my lanky body.

I just wish everything could be the same again.
